Cancel Culture Goes After Successful Oklahoma Restaurant
US Incorporated ^ | July 27, 2020 | Allan Wall

The Cancel Culture is now aiming its guns at a popular local restaurant in Stillwater, Oklahoma, because of its name – Eskimo Joe’s. Eskimo Joe’s is a very successful local restaurant, founded in 1975, and has become quite well-known outside of the Sooner State.

Its iconic shirts, featuring a smiling Eskimo and his faithful dog, Bucky, are so popular that the company has a clothing store right next to the restaurant.

So what's the problem? A petition is circulating, attacking the restaurant for its name and its logo.

I didn’t realize Cherrikee Red was still around. I used to drink that as a kid when it was bottled in Kecksburg, PA.

Well, I don’t actually drink spirits. But in context, a good Islay whiskey sounded more apt than Guinness...

Show their Eskimo or Inuit example of their Saint George Floyd. How are they downtrodden and hurt by a friendly sign or name of a restaurant?

Show me their lines of discriminated against job applicants and college entrance refusals. Whites who were victims we can find by the millions.

Michael Savage was broke and his immigrant father never got a dime of government money. Savage asked the scholarship guy for a chance at the minority scholarship money. “I really need money to go to college.” He laughed in Savages face. “That money is strictly for blacks.”

I remember buying dry dog food at the local Co-op. GRIMALDI’S DOG FOOD. (A bulldog with boxing gloves was on the bag.) “DAGO for Grimaldis! WOPPING to please!”

My husband is a person of Italian descent, who calls himself an American-American. He says that his Great Grandfather was an Italian-Italian; his Grandfather was an Italian-American. His Father was an American-Italian; which makes husband an American-American. (And he says that the genes of his English mother saved him from the progenitorial ‘beak’ :-)

He’s got an ‘Italian Flag Hat’ that his family always called a ‘Guinea Helmet’.

He has no problem with being called a WOP (he says ‘that’s funny, right there’) or with being called a ‘Guinea’.

He’s younger than I am, and has never heard the term ‘Dago’; but I heard my father use it often, regarding his Italian friends. Nobody was offended, back in the day. People have just been conditioned, now - largely by others who have NO CONNECTION at all to these ethnic roots - to ASSUME offense.

By the way: his name is ‘Tony’ - and he often tells me that it means ‘To New York’ (’that’s a joke, right there.’)

He talks with his hands extravagantly too; when he’s driving, it drives ME nuts.

And I guess that’s enough Family Disclosure - because now, he’s going off into ruminations about how ‘nobody covers their fig tree in Winter, down here’, and ‘nobody grows their own tomatoes and makes Sauce anymore’.

Pretty soon, he’ll be wanting a house with two kitchens - (I’ve never known a real Italian-American family who didn’t have two kitchens, or some partial attempt at that.)

Husband closes tonight with the notion that ‘a main thing that brings people together is FOOD’.

I think that’s true in every culture - I’ve had African-African friends who would beg, ‘come and eat with me’ - because eating alone is horrible. In some places, the phrase ‘he eats alone’ is a horrible insult, indicating a person who is selfish and unliked.)

I would only add that MUSIC is another thing that brings people together.

I use to sell over in Cushing, Oilton, Drumright, Yale and over to Ada and picking up college girls was fun!

“Eskimo” is a racial slur? Geez. What these IDIOTS are being taught is worse than I thought.

As I predicted the TV/Movie culture has made the F-bomb so common that even Freepers don't object anymore.

Well, some of us do try and offset some letters with characters, to try and ‘sort of’ disguise it...

I just ordered 5. Two for me and one each for three other people.

I’ve never even been to Oklahoma, but I’m supporting Eskimo Joe’s because my gut feeling says it’s the right thing to do.
