The divide between President Trump and local leaders in places where he has deployed federal agents is widening. This week, 15 mayors asked Trump to withdraw federal forces from their cities, citing fundamental constitutional protections. Former Pennsylvania governor Tom Ridge, first secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, joins Judy Woodruff to discuss why he disavows Trump's action.

Anarchy in the streets is a national security risk. The state and local leaders didn’t have to allow this, but they did. allowing it is essentially an act of rebellion.
Bush family were a family of parasites.
“Just curious, you trying to do what the Democrats are desperately trying to do? I think the term is called “divide and conquer”.........”
The Soros troll rintintin has posted hundreds of articles that attack Trump. He posts this crap and never comments to defend Trump against the obvious trash and heresy he posts.
Still defending Bush? Calling Bush critics leftists? That implies you consider Bush a conservative and Ridge too
Sorry, we cant have a conversation
I dont think Reagan had a choice, unfortunately.
He might feel differently if they were burning down his neighborhood and trashing everything in sight and his family couldn’t walk the streets.
I voted for Bush because the alternative was worse.
I voted for PDJT because I wanted to.
Pro-abort “Catholic” who supports Stalinazi domestic terrorism and endless foreign wars. President Trump called him a loser. He is.
They call him "The Gimp" - something to do with the rubber suit they make him wear in the box in their basement.
And if POTUS failed to act in face of anarchist attacks on cities, they would charge him with failure to do his constitutional duty.
Ridge is one of the dumbest elected officials ever, in Biden territory for stupidity. Of course, hes a Bush crony so anything he says should be not only ignored, but mocked.
“If Gore has been elected the Democrats would be over already.”
LOL, with the courts owned by the Left, they would control voting and it will NEVER be over, especially with them ending voting rules, making PR and DC states, and God knows what else.
But then again, you not capability of accepting that (you likely trust the Democrats to not lock us out...after all, they would play fair, LOL), since you think the country would have been better off under Gore.
Later!
If he had been pro-life he’d have been Bush’s VP, our failed nominee in ‘08, and Liz Cheney would likely not be in Congress.
I was recalling who was the alternative to Ridge in 1994 when he ran for Governor, and it was (unfortunately) Attorney General Ernie Preate (with no runoffs, Ridge won 35-29% over Preate). Preate went to prison the following year. It still would’ve left the capable Mark Schweiker as Governor, who would’ve served until 2003 (as he did, anyhow, but sadly didn’t run for the full term in ‘02, in which case he very well could’ve beaten Ed Rendell and continued to serve until 2011, and still would’ve been succeeded by another Republican).
Shrub being the obstinate bastard that he is, I recall he was going to try to force Ridge through despite being pro-abortion. That would’ve had a very chilling effect on Conservatives and Catholics and would’ve been enough to have cost him the 2000 election.
In hindsight, I’d have preferred OK Gov. Frank Keating (who was also Catholic) to be VP. Keating would’ve been glorious as the 2008 Presidential nominee. He was responsible, while in the FBI, for having hunted Zero’s domestic terrorist benefactors and was one of the few Republicans who openly went after Zero on that.
If you have a problem, secede.
