.....American Indian lineage has been traced to a tiny region of Russia called Altai, which borders China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan.
Between 13,000 and 14,000 years ago, these Altaians trekked thousands of miles, up through Russia/Siberia, eventually crossing the then-exposed Bering land mass into the Americas.
"Altai is a key area because it's a place where people have been coming and going for thousands and thousands of years," said Dr. Theodore Schurr, from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Schurr's team checked Altai DNA samples for markers in mitochondrial DNA, which is always passed on by mothers, and Y chromosome DNA, which sons inherit from their fathers. Both kinds of DNA showed links between Altaians and American Indians.

They may not be native to America, but America belongs to whoever was here first. That would be bears and jack rabbits, whose land was stolen by the red man.
Sure, now that I have documentation on over 125 ancestors, showing that they were Indians going back over 12 generations.
I will now become an ancient Russia/Asian communist descendent! (as per my wise cracking wife, when I told her about this.)
It is amazing, how they can identify/track African DNA down to 1% or less and with certain DNA’s up to now like the supposed American Indian DNA, zippo!
Interesting.

So, they are the dreaded Russian agents.
And that leads to an interesting question. Which tribe actually owns a piece of land? Tribe A was there when American forces arrived. Then tribe A was cruelly pushed aside. So I guess the land rightfully belongs to tribe A. Its only fair. But wait.
Tribe B was once there. But they were cruelly pushed aside by tribe A.
And before that, tribe C was there. But they were cruelly pushed aside by tribe B.
Etc.
So whose land is it, really?
Now that you mention it, it probably belongs to prokaryotes.
MINE.
they have found european dna and relics going back that far on the eastern side of the us as well
It doesn’t matter who originally owned a land. They are dead and there are no land deeds in city hall to look up. It’s impossible to correct any wrongs committed hundreds of thousands of years ago.
Noticed years ago, perusing old National Geographics from the twenties, showing Siberian tribes, that they looked a lot like American Indians. Including their homes, clothing, and so on.
Good question. Ask the Angles, the Jutes and Picts.
So if anybody else lands on the moon they owe us reparations?
Original invaders.
Sure, but whenever it comes to reparations for their stolen land, they always demand protoplasm. Who has protoplasm?
I loved how the Lakota spokeswarriors threw a fit about the stolen land at Mt. Rushmore never saying a word about how they stole that same land from another tribe.
I seem to remember someone telling me that the idea of owning land was foreign to many native tribes anyway. Could be wrong about this.
Exactly. Nearly every piece of ground has been conquered and reconquered over and over and over again.
The land belongs to those who are strong enough to hold it against those who wish to take it from them.
As the first migrants came to North America, there was about a half a millenia where they had little to do but hunt big game and make babies.
There was little disease. The big game was stupid and plentiful. Dire wolves, sabre toothed tigers and cave bears added considerable spice. But the man-dog hunting team outclassed them all. It wasn't until the two continents were pretty much colonized that inter-tribal warfare became a constant part of life, partly, because there were no more easy places to retreat to.
I was thinking about the Irish guy in the scene from Braveheart when I read your comment.
