Face masks and two-week quarantines for travelers entering Massachusetts from COVID-19 hot spots would be required under a bill filed at the Statehouse on Tuesday.
The bill would also prioritize COVID-19 testing for vulnerable populations and mandate enforcement of workplace safety requirements designed to protect both workers and the public.
Both the face mask and quarantine requirements would be enforced with fines under the bill.
Republican Gov. Charlie Baker has already ordered the wearing of masks and has advised visitors to Massachusetts to quarantine for two weeks except for a handful of nearby states.
One of the sponsors of the bill, state Sen. Harriet Chandler, D-Worcester, said with no vaccine yet available, the state needs to write the public health protocols into law.
We have proven practices to curb the spread of viral infection: wearing face masks, ensuring widely available testing, finalizing formal workplace safety standards, and quarantining tourists coming from hotbed states, Chandler said in a press release. But they only work if we all participate.
“I can easily avoid Mass. I have absolutely no reason, or the funds, to go there & now they have made it even easier. Suppose someone just wanted to go there & see a few sights & return home. But they want a lengthy quarantine? That would tend to make a decision for you I guess. An easy choice has already been made for me. I wouldnt go there now if I was paid.”
Liberals don’t realize that with most people on our side, we constantly have options and the biggest one is to just say no to BS like this.
Thanks for the feedback and what you are doing.

Making sure fleeing residents have paid their exit tax...
This hasnt even been voted on and some states are exempt....typical MassLive garbage.
.
Also, If masks work, why the need to quarantine arrivals? What if they do quarantine but are asymptotic the while time?
What’s really sad is that Cape Cod had a heck of a summer last year with those tornados right in the middle of the season. Trump has made it harder for biz on the island to hire cheap illegal labor. And now tourists are being scared/driven off by this WuFlu BS.
Man-eating sharks are the least of the Cape’s worries.
All of these blue states with the Nazi rules have one Red thing in common.
Their budgets are running deep into the red on a daily basis.
So, every tourist/visitor they turn away means more in the red their budgets are each day.
Each tourist $ lost due to their b$ is one that will never come back. The tourists have spent those $’s in another state.
They are locking everyone down in their own states(Except “protesters”). That will kill business and damage Trump. Anything to win an election.

I agree!.....I've spent a career as a Blue Collar construction worker wearing steel-towed Boots...Would you PLEASE start wearing yours to work!!!...you wont die from wearing them!
When did it become patriotic to join a stupid brainless mob knee-jerking any command that comes down the pike? I missed that briefing.
I wear a mask every day. It’s a much bigger much more functional mask than the silly, useless sign of compliance the idiots are wearing It’s weight and tension can induce intense facial muscle pain over time. It protects me from free silica. Look that up if you want to find out what a real threat is and why the mask stays on no matter how un comfortable it gets. It has nothing whatsoever to do with patriotisim or virtue.
People walking around with a filthy wet rag dangling from their face that they are CONSTANTLY touching aren’t even REMOTELY as protected ( if there were an actual threat) as a professional in an OR using the device as directed (even if it,were the same device the pros use...which is one hell of a forlorn assumption).
Our nation is circling the drain. The damage done financially is ALREADY past the tipping point, and you think a mask is the issue. Damn...
> but I predict a tidal wave of blow back in November.
Not in Massachusetts, they not only drink the koolaid, they also make it for others to drink.
See, liberals don’t care what you do as long as it is mandatory.
I am glad that I lived on Cale Cod between 1961 to 1966. I was able to see the now-of-late beatnik culture and art exhibits in not-yet-queer Provincetown. I saw, and touched the-soon-to-be-renamed Plymouth Rock and the nearby Plantation. Ii went to the Ocean Spray cranberry facility in Wareham. I lived on the Democrat-Congress-killed Otis Air Force Base, the now-defunct birthplace of my long-lost sister. I remember “a clam shack”, called Sandy’s on the ramps of the Buzzards Bay side of the Bourne Bridge. I remember Bourne Elementary School, with classrooms built around the basketball court/stage.
Now, in this year of changing everything to smooch the butts of the ridiculous minorities, social and political, I am glad to have seen things as they should have remained!!!
Damn right. Show me evidence that it might mitigate the COVID risk and I'll get mine out and wear them.
Like N. California in 2 out 3 summers with our out of control forest/brush fires.
Now our insane governor, Gruesome Newsollini, has just brought back his original insane no/nos with the same old BS.
So now merchants, hotel, restaurant owners and wine people will have another bad summer. They will have to lay off workers and maybe go broke due to Gruesome Newsollini!

For the life of me, I cannot imagine any need to go to Massachussettes for absolutely any reason.

Damn right. First they make us wear masks. Then we'll have to wear pink panties on our heads. Then they will get our guns and confiscate our iPads. Dogs and cats will live together. Total chaos will rein.
Given that the medical profession has been wearing masks for a long time, it is altogether possible that they have some effect, some how, some where, on reduction of microbe transmission.
The positive effects of masks in COVID mitigation can be debated, but I personally think they are helpful, and all my dumbass doctor friends think it does, as well.
I know that doesn't carry weight with all of you. Just sayin'.
No one can make an intelligent case for a downside to wearing masks, allowing for very occasional exceptions.
So stop the mask bitching. It makes conservatives look like a bunch of morons.
Can NH refuse to let MA residents into their state?
I think not.
Wear masks?
If theyre serious about stoping COVID they would seal the border and deport all illegal aliens. All of them. No exceptions. No excuses.
