After another tragic weekend of gun violence, including the death of a 1-year-old, two members of the black community called on the NYPD to bring back the recently disbanded Anti-Crime Unit to help get guns off the street.
It was a dramatic moment Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams holding up a pair of baby shoes Monday after a 1-year-old became the latest victim of gun violence, caught in the crossfire at a family barbecue just hours before.
Babies are not supposed to be wearing these in a coffin, Adams said.
Adams, a former cop, became the second member of the African-American community to call on the NYPD to stop the violence by re-instituting the Anti-Crime Unit undercover cops whose job was to get guns off the street. The unit was disbanded during the anti-cop protest that shook the city.
I think that a total elimination is something we need to reevaluate, said Adams. Right now, bad guys are saying if you dont see a blue and white you can do whatever you want.
Community activist Tony Herbert agrees.
The guns keep going off and now we have a 1-year-old and the blood is on the hands of the mayor and the state Legislature, said Herbert.

It’s not “gun violence.”
It’s black criminal violence.
Since they oppose BLM’s call to defund the police, these prominent members of the black community have proved themselves to by racist.
Good for them. This is what it will take to rein in this nonsense. Communities are going to have to speak up against the mob.
Maybe they should call on idiots like Bill De Blasio instead
Now, will de Commieo backpedal and allow NYPD to do their job? I doubt it.
new yorkers are reaping the benefits of their voting public.
Im sure NYC could afford it if they just figured out where the mayors wife stashed that billion dollars earmarked for mental health that just disappeared.
Two members of the black community spoke up!
Ok....
Fascinating... Very sad that the neighborhoods have deteriorated, and that they can’t seem to control their youths, not to mention get hitched before having kids. So very, very sad.
Fatherless kids are at a distinct disadvantage. I think the elders of the community know this, and they need the cops to wrestle the youth into control (no pun intended). Let’s face it, they and their older “gang fathers” are the problem, likely because they were also fatherless.
The whole, “see something, say nothing” policy hasn’t helped that community. That needs to change.
But I thought it was against the law to have guns in New York. And weren’t the police just vehicles of oppression and white supremacy?
I say let these vermin eat their own feces a while longer. We need more than *two* blacks to demand the cops return. If 1-year-olds are dying, maybe the citizenry needs to be more outspoken about what they value in their community. Maybe police weren’t the problem after all.
“Since they oppose BLMs call to defund the police, these prominent members of the black community have proved themselves to by racist”.
Yep, they’re Uncle Toms and OREOs, too.
The no-duh award.
‘SORRY, we all retired last week...’
.
And LOUDLY denounce the democrat politicians who have facilitated this whole dis-empower the police movement.
.
Seriously for democrat politicos, black lives dont matter
.
This is what all Democrat politicians call “re-imagining” what policing looks like. Take armed police off the streets and murders of innocents skyrocket.
Who did NOT see this coming?
These Democrats in charge are DANGEROUS idiots.
With enough dead voters and illegals voting, they won’t matter on Election Day either.
Trump Tower should have a LARGE display/mural of young people killed in New York City. Put this display directly above the mural on the street. Include Davell Gardner, Jr.
Please Mr. Policeman, stop us Black folks from killin ow-selves.
Just dont stop us from aborting black lives by the millions. Thatd be a bridge too far,
Fun violence. Oh gee. I meant GUN violence
I mean. How stupid is that term for murder ? And mayhem. ?
