“Still not a good look for the Five Guys shops - makes it look like they will hire ANYONE to cook their food.
I mean, don’t applicants have to have some type of minimum requirements? Are they even interviewed?”
Having worked in the fast food industry before, its true they will hire anyone to cook your food. They’ll hire anyone with a pulse. Because its just not rocket science to cook up burgers and fries. A trained monkey could do our jobs.
When i was hired, i had no previous experience of any kind in the food industry at all. And aside from a 2 hour orientation meeting, they gave me no training whatsoever. And no, they didnt interview me. When i showed up for my first day on the job, the second i stepped foot into the place, they immediately assigned me to the grill and ordered me to make 30 cheeseburgers all at the same time right then and there. Which i did.
Worked at McDonald's all through high school (1970's), I was interviewed for the job, and had to meet certain metrics along the way.
I was trained by others who had pride in what they did.
Maybe it was just the era?
