Sweden's Death Toll Hits Zero, Media Calls It a Failure
Front Page Magazine ^ | 12 Jul 2020 | Daniel Greenfield

Posted on 07/12/2020 7:07:30 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

The narrative is official, if you don't lock down your country, destroy civil liberties and the economy, you're a failure. Success in fighting the Wuhan Virus is measured in indefinitely prolonging the crisis, not in actually dealing with it.

The data is in: Sweden failed - Open Democracy

Sweden's daily tally of new COVID-19 cases falls to lowest since May - Reuters

Sweden's coronavirus death toll is now approaching zero, but experts are warning others not to hail it as a success - BI

Oh good, the experts. Those same ones who...

1. Say that Black Lives Matter riots don't spread the virus, but Reopen rallies and church and synagogues services do?

2. Said that we shouldn't wear masks before deciding that everyone should wear masks?

3. Thought sending coronavirus patients into nursing homes was a good plan?

A death rate approachimg zero sure sounds like a failure to the expert class.

The “experts” are self-important fools. The Marxist Media promote them for ratings and to back-up the Blue State governors who have promoted themselves to monarchs.

Sweden’s only failure was that they did a very poor job of protecting the elderly and other vulnerable people. The rest of what they did was sound and worked as intended. Their high total deaths is a result of early failures to keep the most vulnerable people safe. There’s no reason we couldn’t take their approach, make some improvements, and implement it across the board here in the US to keep people safe AND working.

Experts motivated by nothing but truth will surely analyze data from the US,various European nations and other advanced industrialized nations. If,by chance, the Swedish approach proves to have been the wise one (few,if any,”excess” deaths and little,or no,damage to their economy) it will be interesting to see how various top Rat Party players react.

As all here at FR know, the ONLY reason for the scamdemic narrative/kill this great economy is to get rid of Trump, US.

I suppose it is a failure in that the virus was not capable of shutting life down for the Swedes, destroying what’s left of their economy, and allowing them to still be free instead of a communist hell hole.

True in part. We need to protect vulnerable people in nursing homes. And we could make it easier for other vulnerable people to quarantine.

But what about the vulnerable people who don’t want to quarantine but prefer to roam about and force everyone else into masks, gloves, shutdowns, and social distancing?

How is it a success compared to the other Scandinavian countries? It looks miserable in comparison. Their neighbors reopened and are doing fine.

Denmark, the first country outside Asia to ease its coronavirus lockdown, said on Wednesday the spread of COVID-19 has not accelerated since it entered its second phase of reopening society last month. The Nordic country allowed restaurants, cafes and malls to resume business during May in the second phase of easing lockdown restrictions. In April it had allowed day care centres, schools, hair dressers and some small businesses to reopen.

“The level of contagion in society is still very low,” the Danish health authority said in a report on Wednesday, adding that the number of confirmed new infections had continued to fall despite more tests being carried out.

2 Jun: UK Spectator: Ross Clark: Why can’t Neil Ferguson’s Imperial model be replicated?
One of the first questions he was asked was by Conservative peer Viscount Ridley, who brought up (10:40) the subject of a Swedish study which sought to apply to Sweden Ferguson’s infamous mathematical model which forecast 250,000 deaths in Britain if the government continued with its mitigation strategy. In response to the modelling – presented on 16 March – the government changed course, telling people to stay away from crowded places. A week later a full lockdown was introduced.

Viscount Ridley: ‘Uppsala University took the Imperial College model – or one of them – and adapted it to Sweden and forecasted deaths in Sweden of over 90,000 by the end of May if there was no lockdown and 40,000 if a full lockdown was inforced...

Professor Ferguson: ‘First of all, they did not use our model. They developed a model of their own. We had no role in parameterising it. Generally, the key aspect of modelling is how well you parameterise it against the available data. But to be absolutely clear they did not use our model, they didn’t adapt our model.’

Trouble is, the Uppsala team say they very much did use an adaptation of Ferguson’s work. Their paper states: ‘We employed an individual agent-based model based on work by Ferguson et al…’...

Besides the Uppsala team, others have also attempted to replicate the Imperial College model and have found themselves struggling – an Edinburgh University team found that it gave different results when run twice with the same data.

Neither the Uppsala University study and the original Imperial paper of 16 March, it ought to be added, have yet been peer-reviewed. It will be interesting to see what happens when they are.

Been an unabashed supporter of Sweden’s approach.

Sweden continuously fared better than France, Spain, UK, Italy, et al. And she didn’t shutdown her economy.

And no but, but, buts... the supporting stats were there from the beginning.

9 Apr: The Diplomat: Japan’s COVID-19 State of Emergency Is No Lockdown. What’s In It?
Your questions about Japan’s anti-COVID–19 measures, answered.
By Mari Yamaguchi, Associated Press
A. The state of emergency announced Tuesday (7 April) applies to only Tokyo, neighboring Chiba, Kanagawa and Saitama, Osaka, and Hyogo in the west and Fukuoka in the south. That is only seven of Japan’s 47 prefectures. Residents are requested to avoid nonessential trips within and outside the designated areas, but there are no restrictions on travel...

Q. Does a state of emergency cause a Tokyo lockdown?

A. No, Abe and officials say Japan cannot legally enforce hard lockdowns. Public transportation is operating as normal. Most state of emergency measures are requests and instructions. Violators cannot be punished unless they fail to comply with orders related to storage or shipment of emergency relief goods and medical supplies...

Q. Why is Japan not imposing a hard lockdown?
A. ...The country’s postwar constitution lays out strict protections for civil liberties. Abe’s government was reluctant to risk severe economic repercussions from more severe measures.

26 May: ABC Australia: Japan lifts nationwide coronavirus state of emergency, declaring ‘unique’ strategy a success
By North Asia correspondent Jake Sturmer and Yumi Asada in Tokyo

The lockdown was gradually lifted in 42 of Japan’s 47 regions...
After six weeks of falling infections, the Government overnight lifted the state of emergency in the remaining five regions, including the capital Tokyo...

Japan’s success surprises some experts
Japan’s coronavirus strategy, known as ‘lockdown lite’, was criticised by some public health experts who feared the measures would not be enough to stop the spread of coronavirus.
The nation has the world’s oldest population, a bustling train network and very low rates of testing for COVID-19...

Public health experts could not agree on exactly how Japan has managed to avoid a larger outbreak...

Sweden also has vitamin D supplementation in some of there foods. Adequate vitamin D will lower CV19 infection and death rate.
