WASHINGTON (AP) — More than a dozen Native American leaders and organizations sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday calling for the league to force Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder to change the team name immediately.
The letter was signed by 15 Native American advocates and obtained by The Associated Press. It demands the team and the NFL cease the use of Native American names, imagery and logos — with specific importance put on Washington, which last week launched a “ thorough review ” of its name.
The letter was delivered on the same day that President Donald Trump voiced his opposition to any name change by the team. Several team sponsors have come out in favor of change recently and Snyder showed his first indication of willingness to do so amid a nationwide movement to erase racially insensitive symbols.
According to their letter, the groups “expect the NFL to engage in a robust, meaningful reconciliation process with Native American movement leaders, tribes, and organizations to repair the decades of emotional violence and other serious harms this racist team name has caused to Native Peoples.”

Whenever they say “groups” that’s a red flag eg environmental “groups”, gun control “groups”, feminist “groups” etc. They are all scum and fronts for a larger cause. I read that 90% of real indians are cool with the red skins name.
The NFL needs to change it’s name. Call it the NFL/BLM. It is a closer fit.
Indians are already on that warpath. Haven’t heard about the others but I expect they will all change at some point.

Aha. They see their chance in this current turbulent climate and move in.
Just play by their rules, delegate the name to the reservation dust bin, repeat for all “indian” references, then put up an eternal plaque that names all 15 of the aggrieved, crediting them for the banishing of all such references in sports culture. Sports is dying, anyway.
Too bad there’s not some honest polling group... they could poll American Indians and find out how they feel.
A few years ago I would have suggested “FOX” but they’re no different than the other pollsters now... they ‘get’ the results democrats want to hear, ask the questions democrats want asked ... then pull back close to the election so their fraud’s not as obvious. If they were like they are now - they would have predicted a Hillary landslide four years ago.

I did a little reading about that. There are a couple of different theories about the origin of the word.
1. The Native Americans started calling themselves redskins to differentiate themselves from the black and white people they ran into.
2. Early white settlers called the Native Americans redskins because of the red war paint they wore.
Notice that in neither theory is the word “redskin” derogatory! No matter. The word is not PC. It’s gonna go. Bet on it.
Like to see how many ACTUAL PEOPLE are represented by that 15 number.

The Redskins ownership might consider taking a lesson from the recently deceased musician Prince. A number of years back he was having a dispute with his record label. He changed his name to some symbols and became known as “the artist formerly known as Prince”. The Redskins could do the same thing and become “the football team formerly known as the Redskins”.
How about Whiteskins? Then replace all images of Indians with whites only. That way no one will be offended.
I hope the nfl goes broke. I would not shed one tear for this assclowns if the whole league collapsed under their “wokeness”.
And after having received their monetary compensation from their Democrat masters, America has a stroke of collective amnesia forgetting ‘Indians” and “native Americans” entirely to the extent of the Bureau of Land Management no longer paying the extortion perviously demanded and saving the US taxpayers - the few there are - billions.
