He didn’t defend the Confederate flag, he called out Bubba Wallace for running a hoax on NASCAR. He never apologized after the FBI proved that every garage had that door pull and had for some time.

Simple - the flag issue is a winning issue for the media against POTUS. They know they are winning, they can hardly wait until November. No way they are going to step away from a winning issue. Only Trump would do that.
