This is hard to believe...Sen. Rounds is up for re-election & he wants the monument at Mt. Rushmore removed>????? I should imagine he has just kissed that re-election goodbye. Maybe his hope is that he will get the Democrat vote.

Just for the sake of debate, the erasure, or at least the start of erasure of American history has happened on President Trump's watch. While we applaud Trump's valley of monuments idea, has the cultural revolution sponsored by Global Corporations become unstoppable?

I didn’t predict the NYT comment “dark and divisive”. That’s so preposterous and counterfactual that it’s ludicrous on its face.
No comments yet on my third prediction, that there would be criticism of the cost.
Besides the weathervanes, the US seems to be split into two camps.
One camp sees individual humans as inherently imperfect, flawed, sinful.
This camp sees individuals with the power of government to force their will on others as the ultimate evil.
This camp sees a democratic government as evil. The government must be restrained.
This camp sees a Democracy in America society a la Alexis de Touqueville as good and true democracy.
The other camp sees the opposite. Human individuals are perfectable. With enough education and perfection of rules that prevent creativity and deviance from the accepted way
the voters will democratically elect the best people to run a democratic government that seeks the best for everyone. Allowing deviance in personality and ideology is not in the best interest of a democratic government.
All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing
