Fauci: We're not going in the right direction

The US top infectious disease expert said on Thursday he is growing increasingly concerned with the number of coronavirus infections in the United States as cases grow at an unprecedented rate even after months of lockdowns, The Hill reports.

Speaking a day after the country confirmed more than 50,000 new cases of coronavirus in a single 24-hour period, Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said younger people are now accounting for a much greater share of the pandemic.

"I think it's pretty obvious, Howard, that we are not going in the right direction," Fauci was quoted as having said in an interview with Howard Bauchner, editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

"We need to realize that if we do not adhere to the guidelines as we're trying to open, and I don't mean officially, I mean the citizenry, the people that are out there, we're going to be in some serious difficulty," he added.

Fauci pointed to Arizona, California, Florida and Texas, four states that have accounted for about half the new cases in the country this year. Hospital systems in Arizona and Texas are beginning to report they are running out of bed space for patients, while hospitalizations are rising in other parts of the country.

Those mass outbreaks, he warned, threaten to overwhelm even areas that have the virus under control.

This couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the increase in testing and the counting of every corona virus known to man being reported as COVID 19, could it?
This couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the fact that a hospitalized patient, tested 7 times during their stay being counted as 7 new cases, could it?
This couldn’t possibly have anything to do with that incredible new jobs report, could it?
It could, and it does.
Fauci is trying to help the left. I wouldn’t believe a word the man says.

“This guy is just a flat-out jerk. He has reversed himself a dozen times. He may be some kind of expert”

He may be “an expert” but he’s also a government employee! I’m sure there are numerous Drs infinitely more qualified than Fauci.

Many doctors with more sensible and realistic views of this problem. Why hasn’t Trump added any to his team? It’s bad enough Fauci is still there but he’s also the only one holding the megaphone. Time to add some balance.

Because he was right about so many other things...

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Anthony Fauci said if President Donald Trump had listened to top officials who wanted the shutdown to begin in February, fewer lives would have been lost to the coronavirus pandemic.

His own words prove this a false narrative.

“This is not a major threat to the people of the United States and this is not something that the citizens of the United States should be worried about right now,” Dr. Fauci told Newsmax’s Greg Kelly on January 21.

Dr. Anthony Fauci (Jan-26-2020):
“Coronavirus isn’t something the American public need to worry about...It’s a very, very low risk to the United States.”
During a Saturday, February 29 appearance on NBC’s Today Show, Fauci was asked if Americans should stop enjoying their daily routines. Fauci answered point blank, “No. ”Right now the risk is still low, but this could change.

This fool should be happy. Within one hour’s time a few months ago he wrested power from our President and took it on himself to run our country. Shouldn’t that be enough for the little pissant?

Good! If we are at all lucky we’ll get a lot of dead looters, rioters and Bernie Bro’s.

Karma.

If they can delay the Olympic Games for one year, to save lives, surely they can delay an election for one year to save lives.

Sure.

So who do you think will be president? Usually the President Pro Tempore is the most senior senator from the majority party but I suspect that Schumer will either go with Bernie since he came in second in the primaries or else pick a much younger senator since they will become president. How does President Sanders or President Harris strike you?

I base it on the record breaking votes he has received as an incumbent, which is one of the strongest indicators for reelection. The American People don’t trust the media, or didn’t you see the poll numbers on that?
