Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, warned members of Congress on Monday that the U.S. could reach 100,000 new COVID-19 cases per day if the country does not get a handle on the pandemic.
Speaking before the Senate health committee, Fauci said the country is heading in the “wrong direction as the average number of daily cases continues to go up.
“We’re going in the wrong direction if you look at the curves of the new cases,” said Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. “We need to do something about that and we need to do it very quickly.”
The U.S. is now recording 40,000 new cases per day, surpassing previous records set in April when New York was the epicenter of the outbreak.
Now outbreaks in Texas, Arizona, Florida and California account for 50 percent of new infections in the U.S.
Fauci stressed that the U.S. can’t just focus on those four states because outbreaks there "puts the entire country at risk."
Fauci declined to estimate potential COVID-19 deaths when pressed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), but said the situation is “going to be very disturbing, I will guarantee you that because when you have an outbreak in one part of the country, even though in other parts of the country they're doing well, they are vulnerable.”

Our FL hospitals were desperately short of PPE when this kicked off. Using a single mask for a week, etc. Yet our hospital workers did not massively catch this bug despite dealing intimately with Chicom flu patients.

They’re usually a couple days ahead of CDC’s numbers (which makes sense since CDC only updates at the end of the day with yesterday’s numbers), but track well enough and give a much easier breakdown.

All it says is they were going to start counting cases that hadn't had a PCR test but met the other CDC criteria, which are symptoms or other evidence of infection.
There's no mention of the 15 person fantasy.
Now they may assume that they're only catching 1 in 15 cases, but that's just to estimate what's happening in the community.
That's absolutely not what they report as new cases.

You tried to flatten the curve, you failed, once you let up the lock downs what did anyone expect. The virus resumed it’s path. It is too late to do anything but let it run it’s path.
The more you test the more cases you are going to find. A great majority of those cases are nothing to worry about, most didn’t even know they had it. The Key is to watch the mortality rate, although can we even believe those numbers.
If, for instance, this thing had a 2% mortality rate then we should be looking for about 7.2 million deaths in this country alone.
Worldwide we should be seeing about 140 Million deaths.
Are we seeing any of that, NO!
Now we have a potential new Flu Virus coming from China, how are we going to handle that? Relock down the entire country again? Mandatory Masks for all, which will not really work?
