In fact, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top White House infectious disease expert, co-authored an article published March 26 in the New England Journal of Medicine predicting the case fatality rate for the coronavirus would turn out to be like that of a "severe seasonal influenza."
In an exceptionally bad flu season, the rate is about one-tenth of 1 percent, the authors wrote.
The rate may have turned out to be considerably lower among people under 70, according to a paper published this month by John Ioannidis, a professor of epidemiology and population health at Stanford University.
He found the infection fatality rates in that population ranged from zero to 0.23%, with a median of 0.04%.
His finding was based on a study of 23 "seroprevalence studies," which measure infection rates using the presence of antibodies in blood samples, Just the News reported.
The studies, Ioannidis wrote, "typically show a much lower fatality than initially speculated in the earlier days of the pandemic."
"It should be appreciated," he writes in the paper, "that [the fatality rate] is not a fixed physical constant and it can vary substantially across locations, depending on the population structure, the case-mix of infected and deceased individuals and other, local factors."
The implication for decision-makers, he said, is that they can tailor measures "to specific high-risk individuals and settings" rather than implement a "blind lockdown of the entire society."

The people gathering the data and compiling the statistics have made so many major blunders that I don't trust the so called data and then the conclusions.
There is a very common error is statistics and data gathering where there is a change in the trend, the assumption is that something changed. When, what actually happened, is data gathering methods changed.
I am hearing a lot about people being tested positive for the virus but not having any symptoms or testing positive for the antibodies. Also, I have heard that the test is unreliable. There are also people who don't what a return to normalcy.
There is another common error is statistics where people are not objective about the data and will skew (or interpret) the data in a direction that they either knowingly or unknowingly desire.
Both of these conditions have happened and continue to happen.

Death from COVID-19 isn’t hard to classify for doctors & coroners signing death certificates: positive COVID virus test, 80% plus on a ventilator when they pass on, fluid on the lungs, low O2 levels causing multiple organ failure, lung damage on x-ray, viral pneumonia present, etc., etc.. There may be larger margins of error in “who had COVID already” (lack of antibody testing), and “what is the CFR” (case fatality rate) due to not knowing with accuracy the total # of previously infected, but the fatality count from COVID is just a matter of collecting/counting up/totaling the death certificate data.
As far as this particular article/thread goes (CFR/IFR)... everything I see from doctors and studies points to a CFR/IFR of about 0.30%-0.48% (about 2x-3x as fatal as “regular flu’)(really bad “regular flu” years yield a CFR of about 0.17%). This based on an estimate of the total of those infected in the general pop. as a whole (asymptomatic or not) divided into the fatality count. The “total infected” is estimated to be around 10x the “tested case count” or 4-6% of the total US population...this count is aided by several antibody test studies.

I have commented in the past about the importance of taking various vitamins and minerals, including zinc to prevent or reduce strength of Covid infection. So now I have checked with Google and found a number of articles pointing to an increase in purchase of all health maintenance products including vits and mins. So how much improvement in lower death rates and more asymptomatic infected has been influenced by the judicious use of appropriate supplements?
You might find my Comment #93 interesting with its link to a number of articles showing how purchase of nutrition supplements and other health items have increased with the Covid pandemic. Regarding the use of zinc and HCQ, it has constantly struck me how frequently it appears as if Fauci has managed to get any mention of zinc downplayed. This despite the fact HCQ is so valuable as it opens up cells to allow zinc inside to destroy virus reproduction. Of course the fact that Gilead has announced that one treatment course with Remdesivir will be more that $1,000 whereas Dr. Vladimir Zelenko says his treatment costs $12 may have some influence. Why isn’t our government doing follow-up studies to verify the effectiveness of Zelenko’s out-patient treatment? I believe some private group(s) are trying to validate his work. You would think some big non-medical company would want successful early treatment so business can open up safely and not destroy their economy.

I’m on the EVMS Covid-19 Protocol for prophylaxis. Easy to find on search engines. OK... What the hell does that mean. I take zinc (50mg) once daily and quercetin (800mg) twice daily. Quercetin is a poor man’s HCQ and acts in the same inophore way, albeit at about 35% of what HCQ can do. So far no problems and no erections lasting longer than 4 hours. Sorry.
