A whopping 500,000 users signed up for social-media platform Parler after Twitter shut down two conservative accounts this week, according to user metrics obtained by Mediaite.
The surge brings the two-year-old platforms total number of users to 1.5 million, according to data provided by the company, an increase of 50 percent. The company, co-founded in 2018 by John Matze and Jared Thomson, bills itself as a non-biased free speech alternative to Twitter that applies broadcast standards to content its users publish meaning it doesnt censor political speech, but does prohibit certain content, such as hardcore pornography, that Twitter permits.
The development comes after Twitter on Tuesday banned Carpe Donktum, a well-known meme creator whose content is often shared by President Donald Trump, and locked an account belonging to National Pulse editor Raheem Kassam. Those actions sparked outcry from conservatives who encouraged users to join Parler, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who on Thursday said he had joined the platform because it gets what free speech is all about.

What about other platforms? Buck Sexton was promoting “Snippy” for awhile.
I think it’s good that folks are checking out other places. Just that I’m aware of Snippy and had never heard of Parler.
>> hardcore pornography, that Twitter permits.
Is that true, those in the know?
Twitter allows it. You usually have to put a suggestive content warning over it but it’s allowed. If you search for it, you’ll find the accounts of sex workers and porn stars with such content.
Great news, tell everyone you know who uses social media to switch to Parler.
GREAT news! Thanks for posting.

It’s a good alternative to Twitter.
If you miss banned conservative voices, you may find them resurrected on Parler.
Created a Parler account last week. Two of my friends created theirs today. I hope that many of the people I follow on Twitter will also, at least, split time between the two.
You mean, I should join another platform and not post there either?
I hope for Parlers sake they can avoid some of the pitfalls that essentially ruined Gabs attempts to be the free speech alternative to Twitter after it was taken over by neo-Nazi accounts (Real? Marxist disruptors? Who knows). Point is, they flooded the site with an endless stream of anti-semitic memes and postings making the signal to noise ratio unreadable.

Donald Trump can take 82 million people with him. He can keep Twitter and open an account at parler.
After the election he can dump Twitter
It’d be interesting if the president posted identical posts to both Twitter and Parler.
I am worried about the right and left loonies, there should be some way to cover content as “not suitable for children” or “sensitive comments”....click to view. Still give people free access and freedom to choose if they want to view a particular comment.
Tried Gab but dropped it after the place seemed overrun by Jew-haters and Neo-Nazis. Constant caricatures of Jews blaming them for all the world’s evils. I like Parler much more and hope it can handle the tech demands of this sudden influx.
Yep, and here is a pretty decent list of conservative voice accounts at Parler:
