The culture now reminds one of the French army before 1940. A glacial and congealed management culture obsessed with tinker at the margins and virtue signaling for career advancement. Many tradition heroic types such as Le May or Halsey would never advance beyond Colonel or Navy Captain if that in the public relations obsessed administrate dysfunction of DC.

I continue to suspect that Javanka has been at the bottom of placing K street types in key but unobtrusive positions in the WH to ‘help dad’ .

As someone with 20 years experience in the Military there was a time when I would say the Military was the greatest Meritocracy in this country. You rose or sank on your own merits.

Like everything else in America this has been slowly attacked and chipped away.
