Of course. They need to get back to hurting Trump’s re-election.

"I’m afraid Henry will go wobbly and do the dumb things in the end."

Yeah, but something seems to have changed. My daughter is an APRN and son in law is first responder in Spartanburg. They have gone from the its just the flu camp to the other side as have their employers. Strange times. At least they still are working.

I understand your dilemma. The one time I wore an infernal mask, I had to remove it because I was close to passing out and close to a panic attack.

The State of Alabama doesn’t require masks, but cities and towns can. If it were up to the Birmingham news media, we would be in masks, 24/7. The news anchors are ramping up the panic level as much as they can, because of the increase in cases. Of course, the testing has increased, but they neglect to mention that fact.

Anyway, around three weeks ago, I had to visit my doctor, because I was having allergy problems after days of pulling weeds. He prescribed a couple of allergy medications.

I was surprised when I arrived: None of his nurses were wearing masks but I was sure he would be wearing one. Imagine my surprise when he walked in the room, smiling with no mask. I was very relieved.

Last week, I finally got my hair styled and colored. No masks were to be found. Our town would be a Karen’s nightmare.

I wish you the best of luck!

This is better:

Remember that during Smallpox they DID have the right to force a vaccination. But you didn’t pay for it.

There is a Karen on the local nextdoor board crowing about a petition to make masks mandatory in Forest Acres, just outside Columbia.

Like all Karens, she is a fool and busybody.

“Question: considering that around 35% of people with COVID-19 show no symptoms”

Serious question: How infectious is a person without symptoms?

Unless the virus has wings, it requires some vigorous expulsion to travel more than a couple of feet. So if an asymptomatic person isn’t screaming at someone, singing loud or deliberated exhaling as hard as possible, how great a risk do they pose?

I watched a fun video about a Karen. This car club was supposed to do a drive by car show for a little boy birthday. Since there was a lockdown, he couldn’t have a party. The cars were fast, so probably pretty loud.
Anyway, some lady come out and stood in the middle of the street to top their passage. The driver of the first car had a back and forth with her, she called her husband. Eventually, they called the police.

The cops came, and arrested the people blocking traffic! Yeah!

So the next weekend, the car club was asked to come back to try again for a more enjoyable time. Turns out twice as many cars showed up, and the neighbors were out in force waving and cheering the fun cars.

It’s on you tube, or at least it was.

I think I saw a similar one on twitter.

Great when a Karen meets reality.

"Serious question: How infectious is a person without symptoms?"

That's a great question, and I think it's one still being answered at this point. Assuming that they are contagious (and there does seem to be some conflicting evidence here, which may mean it behaves differently in different people), it would work like any other person to person transmission. Your asymptomatic carrier would release respiratory droplets when talking (far more when talking loudly), coughing or sneezing (which could be due to allergies or just random coughs or sneeze we all experience from time to time), singing, or otherwise exhaling through their mouth. Another person breathes in those droplets or gets them on their hands or face, and the virus is able to find a new host.

Given the death toll already taken on the US and the relative risk of being an asymptomatic carrier, isn't it better to be safe than sorry? Particularly when in crowds indoors (e.g. grocery shopping) or visiting older or otherwise vulnerable (e.g. immunocompromised, cancer patients, HIV/AIDS, etc.) people? I know I don't want to be responsible for anyone getting an illness that ultimately kills them or permanently damages them if there's any reasonable way for me to avoid it.

My thoughts: Assuming I’m NOT sneezing or coughing - which is the vast majority of the time - then I’m also not singing or exhaling vigorously through my mouth as I walk thru a store, etc. It would be different if I went to a gym, but in a store? I breath thru my nose and rarely open my mouth. Any exhaust is directed downward thru my nostrils toward the ground and I will almost never be within 6 feet of another person regardless.

From the little data I’ve seen, I think the WHO got it right once when they said it was “very rare.” Then backtracked because that didn’t match the meme.

“...isn’t it better to be safe than sorry? Particularly when in crowds indoors (e.g. grocery shopping) or visiting older or otherwise vulnerable (e.g. immunocompromised, cancer patients, HIV/AIDS, etc.) people?”

If I needed to ride a subway, I’d wear a mask. If I needed to visit someone with a compromised immune system, I’d wear a mask. But those things just are not part of my lifestyle. Ever.

Meanwhile, it is often topping 100 degrees here in Arizona. Masks fog up my glasses (since my air is escaping ANYWAYS). They are the Prius of the ChinaVirus - virtue signalling without achieving anything for me. And I don’t believe in that.

I tried to wear a mask in Costco yesterday. I kept having to pull it down and take a big inhale and exhale. I think people were annoyed when I did it in the line. I suppose they didn’t like that I was not social distancing either.

But in all seriousness, unless I’m just lying in state, I can’t get enough air through those masks they hand out.
