Pallbearers carried Brooks' gold-colored coffin into the church, which was the Rev Martin Luther King Jr's congregation, about an hour before the viewing began at 3pm.
Minutes later Brooks' widow, Tomika Miller, arrived surrounded by loved ones who escorted her in as she appeared to wipe away a tear.
Emblazoned on Miller's customized white dress was a photo of her with Brooks. Inside the church, Brooks' body was put on display wearing a pristine white tuxedo with gold accents.

Same here, I will never forget her story. Perhaps Jahi McGath favorite color was purple. For my mother funeral I wore pink dress even though some gave me this look as if I did something wrong. I view it this way. My mother strong faith and Jahi are in Heaven and in Heaven there are so many beautiful colors. Also my mother asked me to wear pink so no regrets.

When I was in Navy Boot Camp, we were supposed to make our beds like that. The sheet stretched so smooth and tight, you could bounce a dime off of it. Somebody try bouncing a dime off of that wide load might get hit in the eye from the ricochet.
I kind of like bright colors at funerals, which are actually a celebration of someone’s life.
Today, I see much less formality of dress at funerals. More casual clothes than all black.
I doubt that many men under fifty own black suits, unless they are priests, ministers, or antifa.

I know someone who was at the funeral home for a man when the wife showed up. The girlfriend (of 15 years) was receiving guests and it was a major scene. The wife was still legally married so the woman the deceased had been living with for 15 years had to leave.
Then, of course, there was a major fight over the estate, including the 1M in frequent flyer miles.

My ultra conservative Southern Baptist grandmother wore maroon to her second husband’s funeral. Never could figure it out. I was only allowed to get my ears pierced at 16 and could only wear light pink nail polish. It was like she got old and said “I will do what I want” and she wanted to wear maroon to his funeral.
