Theodore Roosevelt statue will be removed from the front steps of the Museum of Natural History

A statue of President Theodore Roosevelt in front of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City will be removed, a statement from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's office said Sunday.

Following the museum's request to remove the statue, which features the nation's 26th President on a horse with a Native American man standing on one side and an African man standing on the other, the mayor's office announced the approval.

The announcement comes as several state's grapple with how to handle removals of confederate monuments and other controversial statues.

"The American Museum of Natural History has asked to remove the Theodore Roosevelt statue because it explicitly depicts Black and Indigenous people as subjugated and racially inferior," de Blasio's office said in a statement to CNN. "The city supports the museum's request. It is the right decision and the right time to remove this problematic statue."

While it was meant to celebrate Roosevelt as a "devoted naturalist and author of works on natural history," the statue also "communicates a racial hierarchy that the museum and members of the public have long found disturbing," a press release on the museum's website said.

I am sure that your knowledge of the facts in the case of TR and the Indian Chiefs as well as the black Americans is accurate. But we all know that the idiot mayor and governor will never allow facts to overrule their agendas.
Facts, be damned!
It is sickening to all.

Best to get rid of this one too... His anti-Semitic and racist tendencies are well documented.

...Long after Roosevelt's death, new lines of attack opened to attack his policies regarding helping the Jews of Europe, incarcerating Japanese Americans on the West Coast and opposing anti-lynching legislation

...After the 1936 Berlin Olympics, only the white athletes were invited to see and meet Roosevelt. No such invitation was made to the African American athletes such as Jesse Owens, who had won four gold medals.

...Roosevelt condemned lynching as murder, but he did not support Republican proposals to make it a federal crime, although his wife Eleanor did so.

Once a racist, always a racist.

Contrary to what everyone knows, Hitler greeted Owens and was nice to him, at least that is what Owens said in a short film I saw with my own eyes.

I have photos of my Father’s battalion marching in the Berlin Olympic stadium after the war ended. This was 1945.

Was listening to Newt Gingrich this morning on Fox and Friends and he said he supported the move because of the white supremacists culture of that day Teddy Roosevelt represented.

And sending Jews home to Europe where they belonged. And wasn’t a big fan of dark skinned people.

“The phrase-maker, the phrase-monger, the ready talker, however great his power, whose speech does not make for courage, sobriety, and right understanding, is
simply a noxious element in the body politic, and it speaks ill for the public if he has influence over them. “

Long ago, TR cleaned up a very corrupt NYPD as Police Commissioner.

Deserves a statue in NYC just for that.

I like Newt, but it's hard to hear that from a Georgia native/representative. He's not to blame for his states past, unless he brings it up himself as relates to others. Maybe Newt was thinking of TR's hostility to business and support of labor.

Let me tell you when this script is going to flip.

When #ANTIFA attacks Disney Parks.

When #ANTIFA goes after the Hall of Presidents, when #ANTIFA attack riders on Splash Mountain (with Song of the South characters).

THEN begins the counter-revolution.

TR also established a marksmanship course for the NYPD, it eventually morphed into the training academy and other PD’s across the country copied it.

I am so done with NYC. I’m glad I had a chance to visit when Giuliani was mayor. I will never go back.

We need a museum of all the statues that were removed or destroyed.

I’ve got just over 8 acres of land, just about 30 miles south of Houston. I will donate the use of my land for these statues, and won’t charge rent, nor admission for people to come by and take pictures with them (as long as they area respectful of my yard).

Commies running around the United States declaring themselves “democrats” is problematic.....not this statue.
