Black Lives Matter Comes to the Classroom. Activists bring the movement’s spirit and ideology into a growing number of secondary and even elementary schools.
City Journal ^ | Summer 2019 | Peter C. Myers

Black Lives Matter, though less prominent in the headlines of late, continues to be quite a growth story. What began in 2013 as a hashtag propagated by a few activists and academics rapidly grew into a nationwide protest movement and then into an institutional establishment, with local chapters around the U.S. and even a few abroad. With lavish funding and generally supportive media attention, the BLM network has become the progressive Left’s primary organ of antiracism activism. Now it seeks to sustain and expand upon that success. In its most ambitious venture yet, the group has moved beyond the streets and into the nation’s public schools.

No one should be surprised. As BLM statements repeatedly make clear, the movement has always linked the charges of police misconduct that brought it into existence with a comprehensive critique of the American polity. “State violence” against blacks “takes many forms,” the BLM network’s “About us” statement declares. The first plank of a widely publicized platform issued in 2016 demands “an immediate end to the criminalization and dehumanization of Black youth,” including “an end to zero-tolerance school policies and arrests of students, the removal of police from schools, and the reallocation of funds from police and punitive school discipline practices to restorative services.” BLM founder Opal Tometi heads the list of signatories of a 2018 letter urging teachers to support a “new uprising for racial justice” in the nation’s schools.

Neither Tometi nor BLM’s other two founders, however, initiated the latest campaign. In keeping with activists’ pride in their network’s decentralization—a self-conscious departure from the top-down organizational model that they ascribe to the civil rights movement—the present venture is akin to a franchising operation, with local cells of teachers’ union activists as the operators.

And tens of millions of children continue to be indoctrinated and the GOP does basically nothing.

Agreed. And with everyone on our side terrified to talk or take action they may indeed win.

like I said on another thread these people have nothing to lose. They have no lives and they are young so they likely have no children and they certainly have no jobs. We have all of that and we do not want to lose it. But by not fighting back we will lose it definitely in the long run.

We can learn a lesson from the two groups protecting those two Columbus statues.

what is different about them than the rest of us that they are willing to guard a statue 24 hours with bats and guns and don’t care what the media or the mayor or anybody else says?

Someone should ask them.

At this point there’s so many traitorous groups coming from so many directions that it overwhelms the mind.

That’s the idea, I believe it’s called Cloward-Piven.

It’s a pretty good strategy.

It seems one proof that has been low-key throughout all of this is the Hispanic community. I wonder what percentage back BLM and antifa.

That could make a difference at the polls.

I would imagine if working Hispanics found out they would be paying reparations to blacks if a Democrat won that it wouldn’t go over too well

One of our teachers sent us all a list provided by BLM of "documentaries" for us to show our kids. One was that Netflix fiction "When They See Us." I wrote back that this particular one was very inaccurate, and I linked original court documents and interviews with the police investigators. They didn't want to hear it. It was of no concern... it told the narrative that was important right now, and they simply pushed back and pushed back (and I kept coming back), but I know they're going to go ahead and show it to kids. The brainwashing has shifted to 400% now, and it is no longer of interest to teach basic reading and math. Just Racism and Environmentalism.

I've resigned now, so I'm just walking away. But it makes me sick.

I’m so sorry. You tried. It will get even worse if Biden et all gets elected. Little white kids will be shamed daily and will end up hating their white parents. If you hadn’t resigned I am sure they would have sent you to re-education BLM camp for attitude adjustment.

“What is DeVos doing about this? Is she allowing it? Is funding being cut?”

My question exactly. WTF has she been doing for 3+ years? The schools/universities have become nothing but leftist indoctrination centers. How about some push back?

It will be in all the lesson plans.

There is no escape from this in public schools.

ANY public schools.

It’s not just ‘free daycare’, it’s indoctrination.

Better to have ‘homeschooled weirdos’ than commie anarchist trannies.

C’mon. Better indoctrinated kids than ‘homeschooled weirdos’. And what about all the ‘free daycare’.

And don’t tell me that voting for the school board makes a difference now.

ALL the teachers are commie anarchist supporters.

One of the FIRST places the ‘long march through the institutions’ began was teaching colleges.

Apparently DeVos has just been running out the clock for the past 3 years.

The public school system already was totally corrupted. And the BLM stuff is as nothing compared to the sexual grooming.

Time to dismantle and start over, existing teachers to be barred from jobs around children.

Cultural Marxism is in the home stretch of their Long March to destroy Western Society and rebuild it from the ground up in their own image.

Why are they letting a Democrat front group indoctrinate our kids?

I guess the same reason I was commanded to bring classes to a pro-gay presentation in the school, put on by some local group. It was disgusting, and it certainly was indoctrination.

The snitches already started with the masks and socialist distancing.

And yes, they’re in full force on FB with “racism”, calling out all they can - to be threatened with jobs, home destruction and harm.

Also they don’t need to turn you, they have already turned
your children. It’s the long con and it’s been going on
for a hundred years!

______________________________________

People will be turned by their kids, for the sake of family. Later, those kids will use access to grandkids as leverage.

tet68 is right on about Delphi Technique.

It can be somewhat countered by seeding a small meeting with several people scattered throughout, primed to question the same issues (in different ways), but that will only get the meeting rescheduled. If the resistors can be ID’d, efforts will be made to hold smaller meetings (’working groups’), excluding them.

There’s no way out of property taxes that I can think of, but even if forced to pay for these schools, people should pull their kids. The thing about that is, laws will be passed mandating Child Services to routinely come into private homes and they will be primed to find ways to remove kids, force enrollment and jail parents.

The only option is to fight like hell. It’s a lot more difficult when the (mostly female)15-25 year-olds are recruited against their own parents and grandparents.
