As are statues of Jefferson Davis and George Washington who he's mentioned to many black people, why the investment in those and not other slave owners?
Gee Rich, how about defacing monuments to black Civil War soldiers? Should we not have any emotional investment in those either? These insurrectionists vandalized the St. Gaudens monument to the black 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment that sits on Boston Common, across from the State House. They couldn’t have mistaken the figures of the black marching soldiers that are prominently displayed on it for white soldiers. There’s a statue of Union General Joseph Hooker, along with statues of Daniel Webster, Horace Mann, Anne Hutchinson and Amy Dyer, as well as John Fitzgerald Kennedy at the State House. When will those be defaced by these anarchists? The problem with these destroyers of history is that none of them have any sense of history. That’s because they don’t want any sense of history because America’s history isn’t a part of their plan. Creating a Communist revolution in this country, and wiping out all that has gone before, is what they are all about, and if you are too ignorant to see that, then may you should join them in their quest, because you sound an awful lot like them.
Will they remove al references to “Sheets” Byrd?
Look, Richard, black socialists are affronted by EVERYTHING American - including Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington and evening Francis Scott Key.
We AMERICANS are insulted by any and all attempts to destroy our history and heritage and as a self professed intellectual you should too.
Instead youre coming off as a cheap sell out for 30 pieces of silver.
But thats ok - we can see where your investments lie.
No one has ever moved to a city and thought boy, there are too many statues around here
F this. Put every statue back up unless a VOTE or referendum is PASSED.
The point is this: when you take down memorabilia because of An accusation that it offends, then taking it down is an admission of an intent to offend, to these particular accusers.
It is an apology. An apology to these people is a confession.
These people are addicted to apologies. They will never get enough.
They have a little dope- Confederate flags (Nikki Haley Started this in South Carolina born to immigrants. Legal but not equipped to know how to respect this nations heritage certainly not to give it away to Antifa- I resist a curse here).
Then a little quality dope- Kaepernick disrespecting our flag/constitution - which denounces racism- with the NFL confessing -wrongly- that our foundation- the flag and the constitution- represent racial oppression. Nothing is further from the truth.
Then the rest of the story of this addiction. To The point of tearing down Washingtons statue in Oregon. Thats seeds and stems. Bogus. Nothing.
Pres Trump knows from detachment from addicted relatives. Let them burn it out. Were detached.
First they came for the Confederate statues, and I said nothing because I was not a Confederate . . . .
Any conservative who didn’t care about Confederate American statues coming down should be press ganged into putting them back up.
They are on the other side and should be treated as the enemy they are.
I don’t like it that Jeff Davis has a statue somewhere.
The rule of law says that I need to convince enough people in the government to agree with me, so they will authorize and direct its removal.
Rich Lowry sides with mob rule, disorder, and lawlessness.
He must be a Slow Joe and Hellary fan.
How about:
Well this week it led to tearing down statues of U. S. Grant, Francis Scott Key and the Boston mayor agreeing that a statue of Abraham Lincoln should go too, you smarmy little worm.
Until they tear down and deface Robert Byrd I dont want to hear it
Do that and maybe I will think they care
Those statues represent one thing to me.
It’s the understanding and generosity of the American people,
who after fighting a bitter war, were able to put differences
aside and become brothers again.
I don’t look at Lee, Davis, and others as my heroes. I look
at them and understand the amount of compassion and under-
standing my fellow citizens of that era had for their fellow
man.
Look at these creatures on the street today. They couldn’t
hold a candle to a single one of those folks in the day
that chose to let bygones be bygones, and come together
again.
Was it a tough road after the war for Blacks. Yes, it sure
was. Am I happy it was. No. I know there were wicked
men who had no compassion for their fellow man. None the
less as a nation we addressed the evil among us, and we
did make amazing progress.
Today, I believe that four things prevent Blacks from being
successful. No fathers in the home. Lack of parenting.
Refusal to apply themselves in school. Choosing to be a
gangster rather than a positive figure in society.
The poor little minority kids, are likely to have an older
brother that puts down successful Blacks, trashes education,
and plays up the glamor side of the gangsta culture, thus
condemning these kids to zero chance of making it through.
Thankfully, some do. Praise God for that.
These statues are an excuse to cause more mayhem. ones
that glorify Black’s contribution to ending slavery, as well
as the nation, are destroyed too.
It isn’t the statues that are the problem.
It’s the massive size of the chips on the non-productive
by choice, shoulders that are the problem.
If they are to be removed, let them be removed the right way. Apart from the history they represent they are also art. Move them to a museum if you must, but dont destroy them. There is something unseemly and third world like about tearing down statues.
Civilized people discuss things and and reach agreements.
What a continuing disgrace this POS organization is to the memory of its founder...
The pseudo-communist scum running the organization today would not even permit Bill to walk into the building, much less write anything...
This impulse, though, is a mistake. ...
Yes, lets throw away all of our history and enter an new world Orwellian order of I am better and smarter than you are.
Heh, Richie, boy, do conservatives not worry about vandalism and destruction of public property, or is that okay if it’s a statue of some old white due in gray?
IIRC, Lowry is another of those never Trumpers at national review who no one should waste their time reading.
The investment, Mr. Lowry, is that BLM/Antifa are not qualified to make value judgments on US historical figures, let alone lawfully empowered to physically remove them.
