Rand Paul: Of course Trump can fire US Attorneys!
Twitter ^ | June 20th | Sen. Rand Paul

Posted on 06/20/2020 11:16:23 AM PDT by RandFan

@RandPaul

U.S Attorneys are part of the executive branch of government and serve at the pleasure of the President of the Unites States and the Attorney General. Of course @realDonaldTrump can fire any of them at any time.

I agree with Rand. Why is this a story?

I’m sure Twitter is melting down over this infusion of sanity.

Nobody is denying that Trump can fire the U.S. attorney. But not telling the man that he resigned before you released a press release saying that he did is probably always going to lead to the situation they have now.

So why doesn’t he fire him?

He's waiting until 9:15 PM, Eastern Daylight Savings Time on 06/20/2020, the beginning of Summer and his Tulsa Rally, to send a message.

Don't mess with the Bull.

Oh, if it happens, I'll be into the 12 year old Scotch and cigars until the wee hours of the morning.

I take my pleasure when it appears, and in today's world, it doesn't take much.

As I understand, Barr announced Berman’s resignation without President Trump firing him. Barr was probably hoping he would go quietly without Trump intervening. The President will fire him post-speech and he will leave sooner than July 3. Berman better not leave anything in his office when he goes home each night. When the hammer comes down he will have to wait for the mail to bring his personal property.

Don’t these guys turn in an undated resignation letter before they start the job?

Not that I know of. But the fact that they serve at the pleasure of the President is a given.

“The President will fire him post-speech and he will leave sooner than July 3.”

Maybe during the speech. How awesome would that be.

Rand does a good job as a senator.

I know many of us don’t agree with some of his libertarian votes, but compared to most of the rest, he seems to actually care about the country

Didn’t Clinton fire all the US attorneys upon taking office, or was that an urban legend?

Of course he can fire them, he just can’t replace them with good people because Linda Graham won’t let him without going through Shummer to get permission.
