When I first encountered news about Bolton many years ago, I was somewhat impressed. But I didn’t like the moustache. It seemed like a very egotistical way of grooming himself, indicating that he didn’t care about what ‘other people thought’ (can you imagine a woman actually wanting to kiss that man - even if, by some wild chance, she found him remotely attractive?)
Now that his book has come out, I agree entirely with General Kellogg - Bolton only cares about himself and gratifying his own ego:

(Damn - in all humility, even *I* would have made a better ambassador to the UN, now that I know what this guy is really made of.)

AGREE!
Volunteered during the war with Afghanistan at Walter Reed. A majority of generals would walk on the floor with their entourage, basically saying “Look at me!” “Look at me!
Some, few, came in quietly, just worried about their guys, the patients. (was on the amputation ward so saw every general that visited WR). Petraeus was one of these guys. The military people I was working with were always shocked he didn’t bring the media with him.
Petraeus did some stupid things later but I will always respect the concerned that we had for our troops.
