Volunteered during the war with Afghanistan at Walter Reed. A majority of generals would walk on the floor with their entourage, basically saying “Look at me!” “Look at me!
Some, few, came in quietly, just worried about their guys, the patients. (was on the amputation ward so saw every general that visited WR). Petraeus was one of these guys. The military people I was working with were always shocked he didn’t bring the media with him.
Petraeus did some stupid things later but I will always respect the concerned that we had for our troops.
Thank you for your service, and for standing up for the General.
All of us do ‘stupid things’, at times during our lives. When we do, most of us aren’t in any limelight and aren’t available political targets.
