It's visuals that take down a president, and the video of George Floyd's death is about as graphic as it gets just like the victims of Hurricane Katrina stranded on rooftops, waving for help that was slow to come.
Katrina was the end of President Bush's presidency, even though it occurred at the beginning of his second term. After Katrina, Bush lost credibility and limped through the last three and a half years of his administration. After Katrina, Republicans lost control of Congress, and Bush was powerless to accomplish anything, even if he had wished to.
Bush was charged with being too slow and ineffective in his response to the storm. In fact, it was local and state Democrats who were slow and ineffective. The mayor of New Orleans seemed to have no advance plan and left much of the city submerged and in chaos, and it was Louisiana's governor, also a Democrat, who was slow to call out the National Guard. Slow on purpose, many would say. In reality, Bush's response was about as effective as it could have been, given the inept response at the local level.
But George Bush failed when he crumbled in response to media criticism and flew to New Orleans to abase himself in front of the cameras at Jackson Square. There he apologized to the black community and promised billions in reparations for what that community had gone through. It made no difference: the left hated him even more. But by demeaning himself in this way, Bush lost what support he still had on the right.

Good read.
1. Many of America's cities have been mismanaged by Democrats for decades.
2. Business in black neighborhoods all over these cities were pillaged and burned down by radical white people, continuing a pattern of abuse and repression of blacks that hasn't changed since the days of the Democratic KKK and the Democratic segregationists.
BS, Katrina was a media creation, the author is having a wet dream.
George Bush was a terrible president. I voted for him anyway. In retrospect, I believe Al Gore would have been a better choice. Better devil you know than the devil you don’t.
If not then the Rats could win with Pee Wee Herman.
Bush allowed the media to control the narrative. That was his biggest failure. Aside from not privatizing social security. Well, maybe Roberts.
Dems will pull out all the stops for this one.... ballot harvesting, registering dead people, voting more than once, dishonest board members, intimidation at the polls....look at whats going on now, they will do anything to get back power (faux pandemics/race war).
Nah...Bush sucked. That’s for sure, but the Leftism of Obama would have arrived sooner with Gore at the helm. Environmental regulations would have trended into absurdity.
FTASo when a violent criminal is breaking into my house and I call 911, that’s “white privilege,” and I should just let myself be robbed and murdered?
I expect to see a lot more of Lisa Bender in 2A commercials.
Iraq fatigue was the defeating of the Bush presidency. Clinging to the “Rummy” Rumsfeld strategy until he loses the House in the 2006 mid-terms and then immediately fires Rumsfeld.
You have got to be kidding. Al Gore didn’t even win his home state. Should President have gone into New Orleans when Katrina was raging over the city? No he was exactly right staying out so the attention could be on the rescue of the population and not him.
If the 2004 election had been held 6-8 months later he probably would have lost in a historic landslide.
Yes, Bush never fought back or called out the hostile media, “woouldn’t be prudent” like Poppy Bush...
The Bushes were just parts of the same corrupt government system!
What are you talking about Katrina was a media creation? The hurricane happened, the dems in New Orleans and Louisiana blew it and Bush bent over and spread em for the stooge press to shove everything they could think of up his behind. I remember that idiots speech in Jackson Square vividly. Thats the day I realized the dems were right, GWB was a fn moron.
I dont think the LEFT is serious about defunding the police. They are replacing them with an armed force loyal to the party.
They abolish the existing police and replace it with “public safety officers” that will be loyal to the cause.
These “public safety officers” will be armed and will be the ones who will carry out the LEFT’s gun confiscation.
Thanks for posting a fact.
One sentence that yanks my chain is: “There he apologized to the black community and promised billions in reparations for what that community had gone through.”
It could have been written differently. That’s where I stopped reading.
Thank you, I thought I was the only one having the same reaction. This guy is thinkin and splainin too hard. It was just the same evil media and evil Dems floating their same evil narratives and seeking power. Bush didn't know how to fight it like the pit bull we have today.
The dont want a monolith police force.
The want separate policing units (under the direction of community groups) with the ‘right’ demographics. They also will ensure that businesses pay up for these community groups.
