As cities across the country are discussing defunding or disbanding their police departments, truck drivers are voicing concerns of safety. Seventy-seven percent of truck drivers say they will refuse to deliver freight to cities with defunded police departments.
Truck driving is historically ranked as one of the most dangerous jobs in the country. In 2018, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic reported truck driving as the most deadly job in the country.
Truck drivers have spent the last year on the front line of a global pandemic and protests. Now many are fearful of what might happen if police departs disband or are defunded.
Truck drives have been voicing their concerns on the CDLLife App. After reading about their concerns, CDLLife posted a poll on the app.
We asked drivers on the app, Would you pick up/deliver to cities with defunded or disbanded police departments? Why or why not?
To date, 77% of drivers say they will refuse loads to cities with disbanded or defunded police departments.
Here are some of their responses:
if something was to happen and you have to take matters into your own hands, and then you risk being prosecuted for protecting yourself.
This is not an area you need to act fearless and think you youd look like a fool for saying no
Imagine what kind of fool you look like for driving into a hot spot and putting your life in danger.

Your kid chose trucking over a degree in gender studies? What is the world coming to?
Just kidding! Congrats!
I would like to think Hell’s Angels can go to Seattle and
shut this CHAZ business down asap, but aren’t most cycle club members in their sixties and upward? Same age as the average FR poster? Let’s be realistic.
Good. Taxi drivers should refuse to operate in cities without proper policing. Businesses should follow suit and relocate to only places with functioning police forces. Let the rioters, looters, and arsonists run wild until there is nothing left to steal or burn, then they might start eating each other.
Pfffft. You’d think those selfish truck drivers have families and kids or something. /sarc
I was wondering about the Motorcycle gangs and whether they’d look at chaz as some kind of opportunity or challange.
Probably not independent ones. And they buy insurance, too.
Same age as the average FR poster? Lets be realistic...”
That would be very interesting if true, that the MC gangs rose up post ww2 and died out with the last of the Boomers.
“I suspect there are enough truck drivers with similar views to the protesters though.”
That’s not the issue. It’s a safety/money thing. Neither companies nor independent drivers want their cargos looted or their rigs damaged.
If you ever want to stop consumables from entering an area, target the trucks. Word will get around and movement will stop.
That won't save them if they are between the mob and the booty.
GOOD!
We’ve all seen videos of truck drivers being ripped out of their cabs and beaten. They’d be crazy if they DID serve those areas and communities.
Why aren’t they loudly cycling thru Seattle????
and????
“Thats big stuff for a 20 year old kid.”
It’s a big deal for sure. I don’t even know your kid and I’m proud of him. You “did good” raising him.
Reminds me of the trucks attacked by Chavistas pirates on the Venezuelan roads
They will organize the soy boy and soy women there for sure. Rape entitlement comes with these Chaz entitlement zones. Surprised it has not been reported yet.
I headed south to I-90 to get out of town.
I was working at a job with a lot of homeless people on the streets (Pioneer Square). The blacks are very loud. The whites just sort of mutter to themselves.
A white homeless guy walked by me (with the blacks yelling at each other) and quipped “So when to the white folks get to riot?”
I cracked up!
Reginald Denny would approve of their message.
Thats where the equalizers balance it out.
Chains, tire tools, nail studded 2x4s etc.
