The head of Chicagos Fraternal Order of Police says any uniformed cop who takes a knee while on-duty to join with protestors will be booted from the union.
John Catanzara says that if officers want to side with the demonstrations, they should do it on their own time and out of uniform.
During an interview with WGN radio, Catanzara said Any member of Lodge 7 who is going to take a knee and basically side with protesters while theyre in uniform will subject themselves to discipline in the lodge up to and including expulsion from Lodge 7.
In a follow-up interview with Chicagos Fox 32, Catanzara points out that demonstrators are demanding that the police force be defunded and dismantled.
He says specifically this weekend. This was about defunding and abolishing the police officers. And youre going to take a knee for that? Its ridiculous.
Cops who are booted out of the union can still remain on the job, but will not be guaranteed the collective bargaining agreements negotiated between the city and the fraternal order.

Is getting kicked out of Lodge 7 a big deal?
It is equivalent to being ‘shunned’.......................
Yes. A big deal.
No one is going to have your back.
1. He’s only “vowed”, not done anything (yet?).
2. Dues will still be deducted from their pay, right?
All hat....
BS!
WOW, even good headlines get the raspberries here.
Good morning, all.
As the blood lust of this commie revolution proceeds more people will resist until the shooting starts.
Makes sense. Thanks.
I know, right? At least this man had the guts to say it. Let’s hope he follows through. I don’t know if he was on TV or some other NYPD rep, but some guy stood up and said cops are being treated as if they were thugs, and thugs are being celebrated. He was angry!
Subjects kneel Free Citizens Stand
In the meantime the union fully supports the RATs with endorsements and donations.

Thats true, in two respects. Maybe now your backup will be just a bit slower in responding.
But there is also a contractual issue, as was mentioned in the article. Lets say the contract requires that you be given a meal allowance when working overtime. And for some reason, you dont get it. Who is going to go to bat for you? No one.
I saw that sort of thing quite often as a teacher. The unionized teachers were usually treated fairly, even by vindictive administrators. The nonunion substitutes, not so much.
Whatever, these police unions have long outlived their usefulness.

Back in 2018 the Supreme Court ruled that public employees do not have to join a union, or pay that union any dues. I am, in general, pro-union. But I thought that was an excellent ruling. Its a free country (supposedly).
His "fellow" officers will not respond and his ass will be open to the very people that he knelt with.
Uh, oh.
Yes, he is head of a union in New York.
I found that so admirable and courageous. We are going to have to take whatever “wins” we can get.
Making light of them is depressing.
Thanks, Tx.
Good!
Thank you!
You are very welcome, Guenevere.
