Rosemary Ketchum was elected Tuesday to the City Council in Wheeling, West Virginia, becoming the state’s first out transgender elected official.
In the nonpartisan election, Ketchum won 39.3 percent of the vote, beating Peggy Niebergall by just 15 votes, according to WTOV-TV. She will assume office July 1.
“Running for office was never in the plan for me,” Ketchum, 26, said in an interview with NBC News. “I didn’t know what that would look like or how I would fit into that world.”

I suspect these type of campaigns are being carefully crafted to select target groups.
The transgender information is not necessarily being revealed all the time to all the voters.
That picture would have been a funny joke in saner times.
So this very male looking MAN in drag wins by a plurality of the vote where 60% voted for someone else ? Why is there no runoff ?
That’s about as clearly male as you can get. You can grow your hair out, have a doctor mutilate your sex organs, open a permanent wound down there and call it a “vagina”, but you will never be anything other than what you were biologically created as. Hint: NOT a female.

She should be given lotsa publicity in western PA. Help make PA a Republican state. Make her famous.
Does this happen often to men who work in coal mines? If so, would give new opportunities to talk about “shaft work”.

Ten Years After - I’d Love To Change The World
Anyway, when I’d Love To Change The World came out we covered it, and in those days the words were no big deal.
Fast forward to a year ago, I’m playing guitar in a classic-rock cover band with a bunch of similar old farts, and the sax player (a great player and friend, but a fanatical liberal) and I are talking and Ten Years After comes up as a band we both liked. He says, “We should cover that!”. I say, “Are you sure? Those lyrics are kind of politically incorrect these day, we’ll get in trouble.” He says “What lyrics?” I quote those lines you posted in your comment.
He was thunderstruck. “Geez, I’ve never actually listened to the words, I was just listening to the music! Holy cow, we can’t cover that!”
I should have kept my mouth shut — and the first time I sang the lyrics he would have sh!t himself onstage. :-)
