MONROE, Mich. Dozens of people are saying its beyond time for the statue of Civil War commander General Armstrong Custer in Monroe to finally come down.
All of us feel like if this is up then we have no justice, we have no peace at all, honestly. It feels like its a threat to us, honestly. Like, why is this up, praising this guy when we have no justice for our colors, said one Monroe woman.
Shes not the only one who feels that way. An online petition has bee started proposing the statues removal and so far its received thousands of signatures.
We should have justice for ourselves. If we dont feel like this needs to be up then all of us as a community should be able to come together. Everybody deserves Justice. Everybody deserves peace. Everyone deserves equality. Until we have all that, we will not have no peace. No justice, no peace, Ariana Baez said.
But only time will tell in a world thats ever-changing, especially in the year 2020.
We out here fighting for our people, you know? Custer, that gotta come down, a woman said.

Cancel culture thrives in the petri dish of ignorance.
He killed Indians, therefore he’s racist and committed genocide.
Welcome to the Cultural Revolution, everything is going to come crashing down.
The most important thing to remember is don’t let them divide us.
You really didn’t think the BLM thugs were going to stop with Confederate Generals, did you?
Yeah, but they killed him ...
Custer was a UNION officer, fighting to defeat the South.
These people are complete nincompoops.
Custer was from Monroe, MI. Drove there to buy hooch legally when I was 18, from Ohio.
Exactly. Although that’s wrong-headed anyway.

How long has she been here?
Is she deportable?
Nevermind that. (Really.)
He is evil for all time because of fighting Indians. (As I am, for using the unPC word.)
If Custer has to come down then so does Robert Byrd
Guess the Michigan Wolverines will have to change their name as it derives from Custer’s Brigade.
Maybe for the Black Kettle attack on the Washita River but karma definitely caught him up at the Greasy Grass. Id call it a tie!
Might as well go after Raymond Burr’s Fort Laramie.
Might as well go after Raymond Burr’s Fort Laramie.
What about tearing down statues of Buffalo Bill? He practiced "white supremacy" not only over other races, but other animal species too. And while you're at it, rename the city of Buffalo, too.
P.S. Let's rename Ithaca. It is named after the home of Ulysses (Odysseus), who behaved brutally against the mentally inferior Cyclops and selfishly blinded one of them, instead of altruistically letting him eat his whole crew.
And rename Homer, Alaska, too (Homer was the author of the Odyssey, and the incredibly violent Iliad, too. We don't want to offend the anti-war crowd, either. [/s]
I once called an Indian an Indian.
The young white guy I was working for said “It’s Native American.
I looked at the Indian and said “Okay - what do you call yourself? (Knowing the answer would almost certainly be Indian, and it was.) I didn’t say anything to my young client.
Maybe they should put up one of W.T.Sherman?
He too burned the south.
