Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are quickly shutting down calls to defund police departments as the party grapples with how to respond to demands for reforms in the wake of George Floyd's death.
The idea is splintering black activists and some prominent progressive lawmakers from Biden and top congressional Democrats while providing fodder for national Republicans, who are quickly mobilizing to use it as the latest example of Democrats moving to the left in the lead up to November.
A spokesman for Biden's campaign said Monday that the former vice president "hears and shares the deep grief and frustration" of those calling for reform, but that he "does not believe that police should be defunded.” ADVERTISEMENT
Later, Biden made his position clear in an interview with CBS.
"No, I don't support defunding the police. I support conditioning federal aid to police based on whether or not they meet certain basic standards of decency and honorableness," he said.
Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill were adopting a similar position.
“I can’t imagine that happening in a federal way,” Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said when asked about efforts to defund the police.
Asked if the slogan of defunding the police was “politically problematic,” Bass said that she supported the “intent” behind it, including more investment in communities, but “I think it can be used as a distraction and that’s my concern.”
Yep...way too late and trying to retract it just makes it more obvious as to who’s in charge. It is now part of their party platform...right along with kicking God out a few years back.

The bottom line is: the new communist RAT/DNC party wants to defund/ban every LE agency in the country and completely confiscate ALL guns from the American citizens. The only thing they see as standing in their way is LE and Trump.

“Quickly shutting down?” What propaganda. It took Joe and “the leaders” quite a while to decide that one. This is a demonstration of Joe’s/leaders decisiveness? ROFLMAO.
However, this display of decisiveness was much faster than their speaking out about the rioting, the destruction of innocent lives and property of law abiding citizens. Still haven’t heard anything from them on that demanding that the destruction stop immediately and people obey the law.
PS - If they defund, do the taxpayers get a refund? They will need it to arm themselves.

Funny how the 'rats coalesced around Joe because they feared Bernie was "too radical". So, they go all in for Joe, and Joe panders to all the radical groups and becomes Bernie 2.0.
