As looters were ransacking businesses throughout the city more than a week ago, Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Ald. Raymond Lopez (15th), one of her harshest critics, engaged in an angry and foul-mouthed argument over the city’s handling of the widespread violence.
During a conference call with all 50 aldermen on May 31 to discuss the city’s response to the looting, Lopez accused the mayor of being unprepared when looting spread from downtown to the neighborhoods that weekend. Looters pillaged shops throughout the city as peaceful protesters were taking to the streets on the last weekend “When downtown is in lockdown, our neighborhoods are next, and our failure to fully get ready for what’s going on in the neighborhoods, we’re seeing this destruction, and we’re thinking that it’s going to somehow end tonight. We have seen where, in other cities, this has gone on for days; and we need to come up with a better plan for days, at least for the next five days, to try and stabilize our communities,” Lopez said.
It will be Mogadishu in all dem led cities if this keeps up. Tribalism and warlords are the end state of this vector. The left have been making everything about race for decades, what did they think was going to happen? Foment institutionalized racism and you get a racist society. What’s ironic is the extreme left communist revolutionaries (Antifa/BLM) are waking up to their Dem overlords corruption.
Why don’t we hear the truth from MSM about:

Same thing happened during the 1967 race riots in Milwaukee. WW II vets set up blockades on the 6th st viaduct - the road between white and black neighborhoods - and manned them with riflemen.

Cicero isn’t somewhere you want to push things. There’s still a significant “old school” Italian population that resides there. And they have significant “business interests” if you know what I mean.
I’d advise the rioters and looters to remain in Chicago if they know what’s good for them.

Tito was able to keep Yugoslavia united, through intimidation.
Once he passed away, it was only a matter of time before the old grievances returned and you got what you got in The Balkans in the 90s.
It didn’t take intimidation for people to unite here, it was a given that you melted in.

The year she was elected, there was a wide variety of candidates for mayor, some not so bad, considering it’s Chicago. About 30% of eligible voters bothered to show up. Lightfoot was the top votegetter with around 30% of that, and the election went to a runoff. During the runoff, about 30% of the voters bothered to vote, and she got 73% of the vote. Fewer than 20% of eligible voters put this sorry piece of work in office. The 80% who could have made a difference had better get used to it.

The head of the ANC in South Africa tried to take down the Zulus. Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, the Zulu big chief, threatened to unleash his tribesmen on the ANC. Zulus make up about 80% of the military and are skilled fighters. The ANC had to give a big payoff to Goodwill - including land and gold - in order to calm him down.
