Serious question — and I’m not trying to be a rabble-rouser. If a city like NYC disbands the police, or defunds the police, or whatnot, why WOULDN’T I decide to rob a bank? If there is no law enforcement, there are no laws. So why wouldn’t theft and violence and bad behavior be widespread. Lord of the Flies type stuff.
In other areas, sure, an armed society is a polite society and I think good folks in Texas or Arizona would keep a lid on bad behavior. But we’re talking about NYC. It’s not a polite place.
