Many police officers are flouting state orders by not wearing face masks at mass demonstrations across New York City, frustrating city leaders and protesters who say the decision is deliberate and disrespectful.
Despite New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s order for all New Yorkers to wear a face covering in public to stop the spread of COVID-19—and NYPD protocol that officers must comply—police officers have been spotted and photographed this week not wearing masks when interacting with protesters at crowded rallies for George Floyd, a black man who died after a white Minneapolis policeman pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes.
“It’s symbolic,” says Cynthia Godsoe, 49, who has participated in three protests since Sunday. “They are blatantly snubbing us.”

But at two daytime demonstrations in Brooklyn and at a massive protest at Foley Square in Manhattan, Godsoe says most of the police officers she saw had their faces exposed. On Thursday, she saw one police officer in Cadman Plaza Park in Brooklyn, where Floyd’s brother was attending a memorial, passing out face masks to protesters. Most of his colleagues around him were not wearing them, she said.
“It’s unsafe and disrespectful to the public,” says Godsoe, a law professor who lives in Brooklyn. “This is a rule we all have to follow, and they’re sending a terrible message.”
Jack Marth, 56, also attended the Foley Square protest and noticed that most officers did not have their faces covered. “To me, it indicates an arrogant disregard for the wellbeing of the communities they are supposed to be serving and protecting,” says Marth, a Bronx attorney.

Well last I checked NY prohibited any large gatherings, so "stay safe, stay home" any you won't have to see any scary mask-less police.
I feel sorry for the city folks. No one in our family has worn a mask. Since we don’t cough, sneeze and spit all ove the place, no one seems to mind.
To TIME: So what? Call a social worker. (snicker)
Seems to me the answer would be to Quarantine ALL OF THE POLICE INVOLVED masked or unmasked for the 14 day Covid period to ensure no protesters are exposed.
Just sayin.......
So police must be hampered by a mask and choke while protesters are exempt from the scam.
A provocation and snubbing? Talk about unconscious bias... ie. the hypocrite form of racism.
I destest these people and I hope karma hits them hard...
Especially the ones that protect the Mayor should be in the 14 day quarantine
The masquerade needs to end
There are a lot of “Executive Protection” details which should advance to the rear.
The mask is just the sign of submission...it does no good whatsoever. But anybody who is masked, unless they’re very frail and very nervous, is just showing allegiance to the PC left.
Unless, of course, the 11th commandment of mask wearing is superseded by some more important Dem propaganda moment, such as poor George Floyd being hauled around the country for his parody canonization.
If Black people want to rise up against anything, it should be against their manipulation by the left and the fact that they have been made into a powerless human shield by the white left.

Hmm, spitting on and punching cops is safe and respectful?
Well, I guess it is(safe), punch or spit on a cop and if he/she/it retaliates they will probably get suspended.

You can’t function well in extreme situations without good oxygen intake.
Plus, you look more human and people can understand what you say when you aren’t wearing a mask.
Don’t wear them in the presence of protesters. Do wear them around more civilized, intelligent people.
If they weren’t at the crowded protests and demonstrations , then they would not have to worry about catching anything.

A couple of weeks ago all the employees at my grocery store stopped wearing masks. It was joyous.
Then some liberal complained and we had to go back into the dungeon.
Excellent point. If they all wore masks, they would be screaming how they are trying to hide their identity.
It really was all according to plan. Floyd was just the pretext, but there could have been some other pretext. The Georgia jogger perhaps, or just about anything that came up (because it’s always something).
