Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

Another beautiful day for any outing? Where did you and Gizmo head off to this time?

D-DAY AIRBORNE AND BEACH ASSAULT

The Normandy beaches were chosen by planners because they lay within range of air cover, and were less heavily defended than the obvious objective of the Pas de Calais, the shortest distance between Great Britain and the Continent. Airborne drops at both ends of the beachheads were to protect the flanks, as well as open up roadways to the interior. Six divisions were to land on the first day; three U.S., two British and one Canadian. Two more British and one U.S. division were to follow up after the assault division had cleared the way through the beach defenses.

Man! I didn’t hear about a tornado going through that area. When did it happen? I have another friend who lives there. Hope his home survived. I need to check their FB page I guess.

Ohhhhh...inside the attic! That’s somewhat easier. Getting him to do it...not so much. LOL!

We went to Comanche Lake this time. It was hot out there. Gizmo found some water to keep him cool.

Yes, inside. Attached to the inside of the vents.
The one here was put in when the house was built so Hubby didn’t have to mess around doing it. It does require wiring to a switch so you can turn it on and off. That probably decreases your chances of having one put in. :-)

If it was anything like here, I’m surprised YOU didn’t jump into the lake to cool off. LOL

It might be difficult and our attic is very shallow and we have a hip roof so there really isn’t a peak that is high enough to stand in.

The attic over the part of the old house that we lived in isn’t tall either. We can stand up in the attic here but have to bend over a little.

It’s just really hard to get into the other attic since there isn’t a ladder and that’s the main reason Hubby didn’t want to fool with putting in a fan.

That’s a different type of attic fan than I’ve been referring to. The one we have is attached to the vent at one end of the attic to draw the hot air in the attic and blow it outside. I can’t go into the attic to snap a pic of it at the moment because pulling the attic door down will wake Hubby.

Ahhhh...we don’t have a vent at “one side of the attic”...because our roof slopes down on all sides. There is no peak. All we have is some small vents on top of the house.

Well, anyway...it was a good thought. Now I have to try to sleep with the noise of the big AC fan plus my tiny fan in here. I’m a light sleeper so it takes forever to tune it all out.

See ya tomorrow. Too bad the museum isn’t open for June 6th, but it is what it is. Stay cool!

I looked up hip roof and yeah, an attic fan like we have won’t work. Gotta have attic vents on the ends.
During the day, it’s going to be hot up there, no matter what but at night the fans helps cool it off by drawing cooler night air through.

Two words ...... ear plugs. LOL! I’ve slept with them for years due to living in larger cities. Working late nights, I slept during the day and had to go that route. Now I can’t go to sleep without them. Once I AM asleep, though, I sleep like the dead. Even sonic booms won’t wake me up. LOL

I’m reeeeeeeeeally unhappy about the military museum still being closed. We missed Memorial Day and now this. I’m beginning to wonder if we’re going to open this year. GRRRRRRRRRRR!

D Day’s Sunken Secrets | Full Documentary HD

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lulFDVnO9n4

On June 6, 1944, the Allies launched the biggest armada in history to invade the Normandy beaches and liberate Europe from the Nazis. In less than 24 hours, more than 5,000 ships crossed the English Channel, along with thousands of tanks and landing craft and nearly 200,000 men. Throughout the operation, hundreds of ships sank running the gauntlet of mines and bunkers, creating one of the world’s largest underwater archaeological sites. Now, NOVA has exclusive access to a unique collaboration between military historians, archaeologists, and specialist divers to carry out the most extensive survey ever done of the seabed bordering the legendary beachheads. Dive teams, submersibles, and underwater robots will discover and identify key examples of Allied craft that fell victim to German shellfire, mines, and torpedoes, using the latest 3D-mapping tools to plot the relics on the sea floor. Highlighting the ingenious technology that helped the Allies overcome the German defenses, and featuring first-hand accounts from Allied veterans who have returned to the site of this epic battle to share their harrowing stories, “D-Day’s Sunken Secrets” unfolds a vivid blow-by-blow account of the tumultuous events of D-Day and reveals how the Allies’ intricate planning and advanced technology assured the success of the most ambitious and risky military operation ever launched.

That Lovely Weekend (same melody, newer lyrics)

That weekend we played our last regular game,
November 30, against Notre Dame.
The Domers were ready, but so was SC.
We had to avenge 1973.

But Notre Dame started to roll up the score,
And in just two quarters, they had 24.
But Haden rolled out, tossed a pass to AD,
Who took the ball in for SC's first TD.

We had to rush, the time was so short,
We'd scored,but we needed more.
So we took the ball, made score after score,
And buried the Domers 55-24.

The Notre Dame players were all in a daze,
While up in the booth sat a shocked Woody Hayes.
He saw what the Trojans did to Notre Dame
And feared that his Buckeyes
Would be in for the same.

Does any of the former USAF members remember AFR 35-10 stipulating that we wear Class A uniforms every June 6th to honor the men that died on that date? At Keesler AFB I dreaded the day because our Class A uniforms were hot!
