Nationwide protests over the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd, the latest in a long string of high-profile slayings of black men by white officers, have featured a common rallying cry: “Defund the police.”
The movement predates the current protests and is driven both by anger at the militarized posture of many U.S. police departments and by the recognition they are being called on to confront social ills including addiction, mental illness and homelessness that, advocates say, could be better addressed by spending on social services and rethinking what behaviors should be considered crimes.
Demands on streets from New York to Los Angeles have given higher prominence to the idea, drawing the attention of big-city mayors and on the presidential campaign trail.

What they’ll likely do is just bust up the police unions like they did in Camden.
No pensions, your benefits are slashed, and your pay is cut in half. Normally leftists would freak out over union busting, but by calling it Anti-racist they’ll go all for it.
What they are accomplishing by all this is driving good people away from wanting to be cops.
So you’re gonna wind up with what’s left: psychotics. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I wish these “protesters” all the luck in obtaining their goal of de-funding and disbanding the police in their neighborhoods and cities ... as soon as possible before the election.
Of course anyone with an IQ over 40 knows that will not happen, but it would be a wonder to watch on TV ... if I only owned a TV ... which I don’t.

Yes that’s a someone pointed out in another thread that all this boils down to is that this movement is about not arresting black criminals at all for anything and if they are already arrested the let them out.
There’s going to be two tiers of police as a result. An Antifa catlady who writes tickets for you microaggressing on people of color and is useless in a real situation, and then Blackwater style bodyguards for the elite.

Do it!!! Get rid of the police and NEVER stop a person of color for a car infraction-EVER. Let them loot-everything free. See how long the store owners stick around. Also get rid of ambulances and fire engines. They will be called in fraudulently and trucks burned and employees killed, Leave them to themselves (as scripture says). Chaos will ensue quickly. Also get rid of 911 since there will be no one to respond. Officials should get rid of their security since they cannot have what I do not have.

They are anything but “militarized”. True military would be FAR more judicious and disciplined. A lot...a whole lot... of these police units are a bunch of tacticool Delta Force wannabes without the training, character and judgement of the real military.
