I'm from Louisiana. I know about alligators. And fortunately, those "more dangerous" diseases have been largely kept out of the US. COVID has not.

My gut tells me it adds up to 1 thing a scam based on a half-truth, but I know for a fact people do get sick from it - most likely its the mystery dieases that killed my father in law in early December others in my family have gotten it, nephew and recovered. My Brother in law, his 40 something neighbor got it and died. These are things I know for sure. I know the flu also kills what would consider a shocking number of people each year too, but I've never had anyone I know affected by that, but how would you know as we don't get all millennial about the flu.
At this point the truth no longer matters, here we are in a big mess of lies and bad decisions. I sure everyone likes to think what they believe is based on the correct perception of reality - but so tough know and the virus is 30 nanometers so its difficult to figure out yourself.

I'm not, and never have been "alarmed" by COVID, and certainly not "irrationally" so. I am simply stating the actual facts of the situation.
When antifa shows up at my house, my Life Membership in the NRA will come into play. Right now, for better or worse, THAT situation is in the hands of state and local governments. I suspect these upheavals will die off a lot faster than the virus.

But THAT ISN'T TRUE. From 2010 to now, the flu has killed, on average, 37,000 per year. Covid, as of yesterday in DoughtyOne's statistical summary, has killed 108,000 here in the US, and although the number per day is going down slowly, people are still dying of it at almost 1000 per day.

Unless they are hospitalized in metro New York city. The question that should be asked is why the Dallas area hospitals can provide more successful care than can the ones in the urban northeast.
and this is the first pass through a naive population. The death rate even the cdc admits is 0.25% not 1%. This is no worse than H1N1 of other respiratory illnesses and not as bad as some. This is the first time we have overreacted to this degree. the lockdown will injure or kill far more than the virus ever will
nothing we do including masks and lockdowns keep people from getting the virus. Those who are going to get sick will do so. meanwhile we have destroyed 40 million jobs and countless lives. That is not ok
