All four former officers involved in George Floyd's killing now face charges
CNN ^ | June 3, 2020 | Josh Campbell, Sara Sidner

CNN)The former Minneapolis Police officer who pressed his knee into George Floyd's neck was charged with second-degree murder and the three other officers on scene during his killing were charged with aiding and abetting, according to court documents. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison's official announcement of the charges is expected to come Wednesday afternoon, more than a week after Floyd was killed while in police custody in Minneapolis. The killing has sparked nationwide protests that call for the end to police violence against black citizens. Derek Chauvin, who had his knee pressed into Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, had previously been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The new second-degree murder charge says that he killed Floyd "without intent to effect the death of any person, while committing or attempting to commit a felony offense ... namely assault in the third degree," according to an amended complaint. Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Keung, who helped restrain Floyd, and Tou Thao, who stood near the others, were not initially charged. Lane, 37, Kueng, 26, and Thao, 34, are now charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.

Might as well burn them at the stake.

Pretty fair. The one guy is on video murdering their suspect and they knew and did nothing. It’s pretty obvious.

Pretty quick to the lynching.

Lots of exculpatory evidence already out.

Most people are ignoring it.

We do not even know if the knee had anything to do with George Floyd's death.

It might have; but there are several counter indications he would have died whether the knee was there or not.

Yep tried and convicted. As you say there are other things
that will be considered before final judgement will be given.

They won’t get a fair trial. Imagine that jury and the media scum cheering it on. It will be BLM protests every single day. It is idiotic to say but they may be better off pleading guilty right now. Then what? They will go to prison which could be a death sentence or they wish they were dead. I can’t imagine. Realistically, they will plead not guilty and we will have a circus trial and we will be held hostage by the terrorists with more rioting NO MATTER what the sentence outside of execution.

But...after the revolution, comrade, then...then there will be so much of the Peoples’ Law and Order that it will bring tear to your eyes. (And, if you know what’s good for you, citizen, they better be tears of joy and gratitude.)

Me, if they overcharge, which they look like they are trying to do. If it were me on the jury they would have to prove premeditated murder. As I don’t live in MN they don’t have to worry about me.

Just don’t overcharge, especially on that upgrade to 2nd degree murder. you’re going to have to convince a 12-person jury of guilt.
..

Of course they did!!!
October surprise from the Muslim, Antifas handbook-holding Ellison is a hung jury. More and bigger riots. I hope PDJT is prepping for it.

The judicial people had best give those policemen fair treatment. The bastard/drug/ugly boy paradigm won’t support immoral people in positions of authority forever.

So the looting and rioting will stop now, right?

Fairer than the treatment of the deceased.

One of the cops is shown on video taken by a bystander (continuous for 9 minutes of the guy on the ground, from six feet away), keeping his knee on the guy's neck for two minutes after one of the other policemen helping to hold him down, says the guy doesn't have a pulse.

That's in the Statement of Probable Cause from a few days ago, not today's press conference.

I’m calling it now...

Keith Ellison’s intent is to get the cops acquitted, just to provoke more riots.

You heard it here first.

That was my first thought. The two autopsy reports may give reasonable doubt.... And bumping it up to 2nd degree means they need an even tighter case.

Plus, all the records in that precinct burned. I would like to know exactly who set that fire.

It's a murder trial. If it happens before 2022 I would be surprised. It took Noor almost a year and a half between indictment and sentencing.

They want them acquitted of the higher charges so they can get more riots.

Exactly what I said on another thread. That's my bet.

No offense to the asshole who wouldn’t take his knee off the perp, but the upshot of this is that police in your community will NOT detain perps of color. Read Marx and Engels: No response, no policing, no law, no order: Just how commies like it to foment anarchy, misery, and revolution.

It hasn’t changed anything here. Police in my community and family are DISGUSTED by these dirty cops. Our sheriff said and I quote “It was murder and I am shocked none of the other officers intervened.”

Hard to see how kneeling on someone who subsequently dies could be 2nd-degree murder while shooting someone dead (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Justine_Damond) is 3rd-degree murder.

Not hard at all. You have a near three minute assault on Floyd while he is handcuffed and unconscious vs. a split second decision to fire on Damond.

No I didn’t mean that, but I can see how my statement can cause confusion.

I think the FR crowd are for law-and-order and not into mob rule.

I have always been taught that two wrongs don’t make a right. No matter how wrong the original incident was in Minneapolis, it in no way justifies the countless wrongs committed against this country over the past week. Holding the country hostage until charges are brought against police officers is also wrong and should be denounced.

Would a jury on the trials of the four police officers be afraid to rule not guilty?

Where could they get a fair trial?

Political charges and show trials are now normal in the United States.

which is what they should hve done in the first place and we wouldn’t have BLM cherry-picking the white guy as a reason to riot
