Trump considering a move to invoke Insurrection Act
NBC News ^

President Donald Trump could announce as early as Monday night that he’s invoking a 213-year-old federal law that would allow him to deploy active-duty U.S. troops to respond to protests in cities across the country, according to four people familiar with the decision.

The military police forces would come from Fort Bragg in North Carolina and possibly Fort Belvoir in Virginia and could arrive in Washington within hours, these people said.

Trump’s decision to invoke the Insurrection Act, adopted in 1807, to deploy troops comes as his frustrations mount over the protests that have followed the death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed in police custody last week in Minneapolis. The people familiar with his decision said he was angry Sunday night at the destruction protestors caused in Washington, particularly the vandalization of national monuments

Not a good move. Leave it to governors and national guard. Even in the worst 1960s riots I don’t think the insurrection act was brought out.

I think it even may that that is what the Left is attempting to provoke Trump into doing. I think it’s a bad move.

The law was invoked in 1992. The fact that it is 213 years old is irrelevant, but the whorehouse media wants to make this look like something its not.

He said either the governors act or he will. Somebody needs to be the adult in the room.

I am in favor of this...but only if the troops are used to protect federal property (buildings, monuments, etc.). As for everything else, that’s what the National Guard is for. Let the governors sort that out.

He just did.

Live.

He didn’t mention the insurrection act.

But he said he is, and will deploy US Military troops.

“Exactly what Antifa wants”

They may think they want it.

But when it arrives they will sing a different tune.

"Trump considering a move to invoke Insurrection Act"

Only if it is used to arrest Demonicrat and RINOcrat governors and mayors (and possibly their children) on federal charges for giving aid and comfort to the domestic terrorist enemy.
