What are your legal rights to defend yourself in the event you are accidentally caught in one of these protests? (GA here)
It depends on where you live.
First, it is always better to try to avoid a deadly force confrontation. If faced with a confrontation, it helps your ultimate deadly force trail defense, if you attempt to retreat, before you use deadly force.
If you use deadly force, you can’t predict what will happen. You may be arrested, you may be tried in a court and a jury may convict you. All bets are off. Justice is not what police and courts serve up, they follow laws and technicalities and politics.
Deadly force should not be used unless you feel your life or the life of another is in immediate danger. Then and only then should you react under a “reasonable man” process with just enough force to avoid harm of yourself or someone you fear for.
If you live in a Castle Doctrine state, you may have the presumption that an attack against you within your vehicle justifies the use of deadly force. A vehicle can be used as a deadly force weapon.
I urge everyone to look into getting a concealed carry license and training on the laws regarding the use of deadly force within the jurisdictions you normally travel.
I live in the country. I have never hurt a person in my life. But I will do my absolute best to defend myself and my family from death and rape even if it means imprisonment. There is more to the story but it is my story. I will not end up like the journalist in Egypt. She survived, but she was one strong lady. Law enforcement must crack down before the everyday citizens decide to rise up and do it for them. Organized revolution for profit or political change is over in America.
Move to Texas.
Move to Texas.
“Spraying wasp spray at them is assault with a deadly weapon”
Really? Guess Vermont has strange laws. If being sprayed with wasp spray could kill you, it wouldn’t be sold. BATHING in wasp spray might cause a problem, and wasp spray in the EYES might cause damage, but wasp spray is NOT a “deadly weapon”.
Which is why one should not carry it. Pepper spray would be far more likely to actually stop an attacker.
“Wasp spray is a combination of chemicals but uses a pyrethroid compound as the active ingredient. This compound affects the nervous system of insects causing paralysis and ultimately death. Most vertebrates have sufficient enzymes to counteract pyrethroids, meaning they arent as effective on us as they are on insects.”

Well Dacula, Georgia is a right to carry state which means if you are not a felon or certified crazy that you can get a permit to carry a gun on you concealed.
Were you in fear for your life you shoot the ground or in to the air and that should scatter the fools surrounding your vehicle.
If they continue then shoot some butt head in the leg. If that fails run em over.
Get the hell out of there - if they ain’t smart enough to get out of the way, too bad for them...dead people don’t have their day in court - don’t worry so much about them that you become a “day in court-deprived” person.
Well, first of all...I dont live in Vermont.
Go inhale a mouthful of wasp spray and let me know how it works for you.
I cannot believe the number of Freepers posting about wading into a riot and openly discussing how to harm people.
I guess I shouldnt be surprised. They are the same morons bitching about staying home for the past month.
So sure, go towards the riot. I am sure YOU can save the world.
Careful using Wasp Spray, it's a crime to use it for other than its intended purpose. Just buy pepper spray.
“Go inhale a mouthful of wasp spray and let me know how it works for you.”
Go inhale a bunch of bleach and figure out how well that works. Or paint.
But who opens their mouth and breathes deeply when someone sprays something at them? Hmmm?
My point is that it is no more a “deadly weapon” than any number of things you ought to avoid inhaling - if you can. Good luck convicting anyone of attempted murder via wasp spray. Your legal advice didn’t match reality.
“So sure, go towards the riot. I am sure YOU can save the world.”
I have never argued for seeking out trouble, and not many Freepers have. But if you drive a truck across country, and protesters close down an Interstate Highway, and you are forced into more protestors on city streets, what would YOU do? If someone tries to climb in your truck (or car if you are on vacation - something I’m sure you think is WAY to dangerous to do due to viruses!) - how can you defend yourself?
In Arizona it is easy: Carry a gun with you. Constitutional carry in Arizona. But in California or Oregon? Discussing self-defense is appropriate.
“They are the same morons bitching about staying home for the past month.”
Yep! People who believe in self-reliance and freedom, and who do not believe in mindless submission to the same IDIOTS who run these Democrat-infested states! And we discuss self-defense. OMG! What a bunch of weirdos we are! We all ought to live in our basements for the next couple of years until President Biden solves all the problems....
Step 2: Show Glock to crowd.
Step 3: Count to 3 and floor it.
You should not have posted this. It will show premeditation at your trial after your involved shooting.
2. What should I do?
Dont get in that situation. You will not win. The police cant even defend themselves. What do you think will happen to you?
Reasonable fear for your life.. Run them all down and flee. Then go to the police to report you were ambushed.
Good information. I will be driving my truck all week.
#1. I have window cleaner spray bottles in my car on a normal basis as well as disinfectant sprays now for the virus and cleaning hands, keys, etc. All legal.
#2. I have my old geology pick with me. Use it occasionally to collect rocks/minerals and fossils. Legitimate. One of my finds is in the Smithsonians collection. The other on my shelf - local dinosaur toe-bone, 65 million years old.
3. My aluminum cane - Im partially disabled. Hard to h it anyone with my walker while Im seated in my car.
4. Somewhat rusty pen knife, 2-1/2 blade for opening mail, cutting duct tape used on packages, opening sealed drinks if my finders dont work well. Legal. Keep it under 3 inches or check local laws. Dont hide under any seats. Keep in the open.
5. Tools such as a monkey wrench, lug-nut wrenches, etc for use on the car.
6. Use to have police baton but gave to my then teenaged daughter for her safety. Now she packs a .380- Sigauer.
7. Keep cans of bug spray around in a car. Mosquitoes, you know. Or a can of touch-up paint. Really cover the troublemaker.
8. Anything for repairing a car or useful like tire chains.
I worry about my son, he is working at Grady. He wants to carry his gun in his vehicle but his employer says no
In my locale, it is easy to get penned in without any notice. It can happen in seconds. I always try to think of an exit route in almost every situation, like never pull up to a vehicle at a stoplight more than I can quickly steer my vehicle out of in case that vehicle is stalled.
Rule of thumb I use is that I must see asphalt under the bumper to rear tires, then I know I can quickly maneuver out of that spot.
Perhaps so, but this defense will require the prosecutor to prove the rioters were, in fact, "humans" ... not an easy task from what I've seen.
Lie or death question. I would & have carried when the employer said no. Keep it out of sight and hidden.
