The attorney for the family of Floyd George . . . wants to do an independent autopsy.

You’re right. Blame my poor eyesight. It’s an important distinction because the “pockets” made it look him look even more indifferent.
Which is within their Rights. Is this a problem?
screaming he could not breath
LMAO how was he doing the without air going in and out of his lungs ? not to bright are we ?
Well screaming he could not breathe was probably too strong of a word.
However, he could easily be heard saying he could not breathe.
Did u hear it too?
“Was the cop putting his full weight on his neck? It looked that way on the video but the jury will need expert opinions on all these factors”
No, he was not putting his “full weight” on his neck. That’s an emotional statement some are using. We can clearly see the cop isn’t balancing his entire body (i.e. “full weight”) on one knee. He would have more balance than a tightrope walker at a circus if he was doing that for ~8 minutes under those circumstances.”
OK. But it is evident by the video that a lot of force is being applied to the guys neck in restraining him. A knee applied to the neck can cut off blood supply to the brain depending on location and the amount of force. The video captures the guy saying he can’t breathe and then he dies.
The jury will need expert opinions on whether that knee hold could have caused his death.
He does have that reputation...
Why? How do you know how much force was placed on the Floyd's neck? What if there wasn't even any real weight behind that knee placement?
What ever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"?
NO assumptions regarding a death are safe.
Must be nice to be so self assured, of events that are very much in question.
What did the coroner's report say about the cause of death?
Oh, you haven't seen it, yet you made a 'safe assumption'.
Of course, that would create an opportunity for a whole new round of riots and incendiary political hysteria, so people on the left probably don't see a downside to overcharging.
Another loose end that needs to be cleared up is the nonchalance of the several other officers at the scene. One brutal thug of a cop is a bad apple; charge him, convict him, and give him an appropriate sentence. But I find it difficult to believe that three or four officers would be so casual, especially since they were surrounded by bystanders recording the incident on cellphones. "Hey, let's choke a black dude to death in broad daylight on film. Just for fun. Yeah, that's a great idea! It'll never get out and the guys at the station house will love it."
Yeah, right.
The cops on the scene were nonchalant. An EMT who arrived a bit later apparently wasn't. The discrepancy needs to be explained.

Good point. My surmise is that police experience similar behavior from suspects that turns out to be “the boy who cried wolf.” Suspects will claim their wrists are being hurt by cuffs in a ploy to get uncuffed and escape. I’m not buying the “I can’t breathe” stuff. If you can talk and struggle with officers, you can breathe just fine.
Unfortunately, it is the often uncivilized behavior of folks in communities like the one where this happened that leads to bad results. For example, someone asked why did the police not listen to the off-duty EMT? Answer: When you are screaming out and making emotional pleas, that doesn’t help. If she had simply walked up politely to the officer, showed some credentials, and expressed her concern, I can’t believe they wouldn’t have let her check him. BTW, the gathered crowd didn’t help things either. My guess is that Officer “Kneely” did what he did (which was WRONG) to both pin down the subject AND keep an eye on the crowd. This is going to be interesting.
Careful there Mountainman.. you're making far too much sense for those that have pre-judged everything.
I side with you for one simple reason.
Shooters who kill multiple victims, when caught, are cuffed, and are perp walked with kid gloves to the nearest police cruiser to be taken to an incarceration facility.
They tend to be treated as if "innocent" until proven guilty.
So, Mountainman, I guess you have posed the QUESTION of the DAY...Why didnt the police just put him in the back of a police car?
Yeah. Al Sharpton and Jessie will find someone to do a proper autopsy right?
so much binary thinking on FR, its sad.
"I can't breathe" shortness of breath feeling is a symptom of O2 deprivation to the brain. Doesn't necessarily mean lung or airway impairment.
This is why ignoring the complaint of "I can't breathe" on the part of the officers is dangerously stupid because they are ignoring the obvious potential of restricted blood flow by the knee on the neck.
It takes only 4 pounds of pressure to block the jugular veins, 11 pounds of pressure to block the carotid arteries, and 33 pounds of pressure to block the trachea (air flow). Compare this minimal pressure with opening a can of soda (20 pounds of pressure), an average handshake (80-100 pounds per pressure), or pulling the trigger of a handgun (6 pounds of pressure). https://blog.ceb.com/2014/09/19/7-facts-every-judge-and-attorney-should-know-when-domestic-violence-involves-strangulation/
The whole thing about him saying he couldn't breathe is a non-sequitur and is being used dishonestly by the apologists for the Police State. He probably was having difficulty breathing, but what most likely killed him was not suffocation. It was lack of blood to the brain, because the cop was applying a great deal of pressure to the carotid artery.
Oh, you haven’t seen it, yet you made a ‘safe assumption’.
I did. You dont need to be a baker to know the biscuits are burned.

I think bringing in Baden is a good idea. The DFL machine in Minnesota is doing anything to deflect criticism of their failed stewardship of the state and the powerful police union also wants to minimize the impact of this tragic event. I wouldnt trust anything done by the State of Minnesota.
Sheesh. Do some of you folks understand that there are 4 (FOUR) main arteries perfusing the brain in humans? Two carotids and two vertebrals? That these 4 arteries all feed into the “circle of Willis”, a central distribution point that in turn provides blood flow to the brain and upper spinal cord? That there are lots of older folk wandering around with a carotid artery completely obstructed by atherosclerotic plaque, and that these people typically appear to be functioning quite well, thank you? Do you understand how difficult it would be to completely obstruct carotid flow by lateral compression? As opposed to using an anterior approach? Can you feel your own carotid pulse from where you think the cop’s knee would have been pressing? Does that tell you anything about the likely cause of death in this massive former semi-pro football player?
IMO, the real story here concerns the widespread ignorance and/or dishonesty of the press reports of this sad event. Did anyone else here read about the results of the autopsy, about the pending toxicology studies, or perhaps more on point, the account of the deceased’s life in the Daily Mail? It all makes interesting reading. The reports of the autopsy and toxicology studies released thus far suggest the cause of death was not CNS ischemia, but more likely it reflects cardiac events. The report in the British press leads me to want to find a different root cause here, and ultimately blame this whole mess on the actions of the department of corrections in Texas, for having cut him loose in the first place. How many felonies does it take in Texas to get “life”?
Oh—and in case the Daily Mail piece cited above disappears for some reason, it has been archived at https://archive.fo/
