Anger over the death of George Floyd spilled into the streets of Minneapolis for a second night Wednesday, as protesters lobbed rocks and bottles at police and gathered separately outside the homes of Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and the fired officer who knelt on Floyds neck.
Protests also took place in Duluth.
A large crowd gathered outside Minneapolis Third Precinct police headquarters, throwing objects at the building and officers. Police deployed rubber bullets, flash bombs and tear gas to push them back.
Fired police officer Derek Chauvin and three other officers who were at the scene of Floyds death Monday night were associated with the Third Precinct at 3000 Minnehaha Av.
At the nearby Lake Street Target store, looters were seen leaving with items ranging from large TVs to clothing to groceries. Looting also occurred at Minnehaha Lake Wine & Spirits, at Hiawatha and Lake. As of 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, no one had been arrested, said police spokesman John Elder.
Target spokesman Joshua Thomas released a statement saying the Lake Street Target will be closed until further notice. We are heartbroken by the death of George Floyd and the pain it is causing our community, he said. We decided to close our Lake Street earlier today and worked to ensure all of our team members were accounted for and safe. Our focus will remain on our team members safety and helping our community heal.
A smaller, less chaotic protest continued at Chicago Avenue and E. 38th Street, where Floyd died.

This was my reaction, too. To see on video a helpless man, calling out for mercy, cruelly strangled by an officer of the law was disturbing and disgusting. It was premeditated murder. It took 7 minutes to complete the strangulation.
The cop could have stopped after one minute, because the subject had already been subdued.
It was coldblooded act , just astonishing. The way the cop stood with his hands in his pocket, casually crushing the life’s breath out of a fellow human being. sadistic and vile!
Floyd called out for his mother with his last breath. She had died a year ago. I hope she was with him, to take him Home.
RIP, Floyd.
Irrelevant to the subject at hand.
......”Theyre not protests. Theyre riots. Big difference”.....
Well I’ll pay attention when the blacks protest or riot because of the black on black violence against each other.....until then I really don’t care.

I’m sure the political leadership in Minneapolis are extremely proud, their looters were very diverse, blacks, Hispanics, and whites, probably some Asians as well. They’ll probably give them a cooperation award.
It’s always the same burning, looting etc......I could care less anymore......these happenings just don’t matter to me. When black lives matter to other blacks in their neighborhoods and clean them up of the perpetual violence I might listen.
I lived in Minneapolis for 32 years.
I can tell you with a completely straight face that, I a middle-class, white, clean-cut, college-educated, generally pro-law enforcement guy, the Minneapolis Police scare me!
There is a sizable enough minority of these officers who are equal opportunity thumpers. Over the years, I’ve seen them overly manhandle people with little provocation.
If I pass on of them on Nicollet Mall, I will subtly try to move away from them. I know there’s some on VFR who’d say “If you’re not doing anything wrong, you got nothing to be afraid of”.
That may be true but to a number of Minneapolis cops, that means nothing to them. You’re best if you stay as far away from them as you can.
If you watch the video from earlier in the day, it wasn’t just the Dindu Nuffin crowd - although yeah, there were A LOT of them present.
There were Somalis and Hispanics engaged in the looting too.
“Target spokesman Joshua Thomas released a statement saying the Lake Street Target will be closed until further notice.”
Given some of the pics I’ve seen of the inside of the store from today, that’s a major understatement!
Black-hating white supremacist spin much, Star&Trib?
How about "who kneeled on his neck until he died" ?
You didn’t watch the film of the man being murdered by police, did you?
+1
Gonna make things real interesting near Little Somalia and The West Bank. I mean, I mean, Stadium Village.

You are correct that two wrongs don’t make a right.
Even so, what happened was horrifying!
Apparently I didn’t think so.
It’s going to give me nightmares, I know it.
Now if the ‘protests’ were directed at the right targets instead of the Target... But the riots disgust me too. They’re using this cold-blooded murder as an excuse to loot and terrify people who had nothing to do with the murder.
Frankly, I don’t think Trump nor Biden can deal with this. They are both too old for this crap.
All this does is take the spotlight off that which we should be concentrating on. That agents of the state, killed an American citizen, in broad daylight, in front of citizens with cameras rolling. This should chill every freedom loving American to the bone.
Unfortunately there are always people that take advantage of a situation. Im looking at you looters and race baiters. You people are helping these scumbag officers, and you dont even know it. Twits.....
