Anger over the death of George Floyd spilled into the streets of Minneapolis for a second night Wednesday, as protesters lobbed rocks and bottles at police and gathered separately outside the homes of Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and the fired officer who knelt on Floyds neck.
Protests also took place in Duluth.
A large crowd gathered outside Minneapolis Third Precinct police headquarters, throwing objects at the building and officers. Police deployed rubber bullets, flash bombs and tear gas to push them back.
Fired police officer Derek Chauvin and three other officers who were at the scene of Floyds death Monday night were associated with the Third Precinct at 3000 Minnehaha Av.
At the nearby Lake Street Target store, looters were seen leaving with items ranging from large TVs to clothing to groceries. Looting also occurred at Minnehaha Lake Wine & Spirits, at Hiawatha and Lake. As of 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, no one had been arrested, said police spokesman John Elder.
Target spokesman Joshua Thomas released a statement saying the Lake Street Target will be closed until further notice. We are heartbroken by the death of George Floyd and the pain it is causing our community, he said. We decided to close our Lake Street earlier today and worked to ensure all of our team members were accounted for and safe. Our focus will remain on our team members safety and helping our community heal.
A smaller, less chaotic protest continued at Chicago Avenue and E. 38th Street, where Floyd died.

Will Governor Walz have them all arrested for violating social distancing laws?
If what I’ve seen is right, this isn’t anything like the Michael Brown situation.
And for a cleithrophobe like me, the picture makes me almost physically sick.
I’m willing to wait to see if there’s any additional information, but this REALLY looks like the cops were being jack-booted thugs.
Correct me if I’m wrong of course.
They murdered the guy
They’re not protests. They’re riots. Big difference.
They are setting store on fire running into Target and stealing everything in sight while the store is open these people are NO BETTER than the cops involved in this!!
Just another excuse for the same types to burn, loot and riot.
The whole place is a democrat paradise.
Just think, maybe someday it will come where we all live.
They should go home and get a good night’s rest, or they will be very tired at work tomorrow!!! ;)
Watching Channel 5’s news. One of their choppers is flying around the scene.
Someone has torched the Auto Zone store near the Target they just looted. That was of course after it was looted.
Mn DOT has blocked off many of the roads leading into the area as well as nearby freeway access.
This is not protesting. It’s rioting. It’s using the death of an individual to justify their inner city feral behavior.
hopefully every Minneapolis / St Paul suburb voter is watching tonite and will affirm or switch to the only law & order candidate - Trump
They'd best hope that Mom and Pop America don't see their insanity.
Derek Chauvin
The white police officer who knelt on George Floyd's neck has already been investigated over three police shootings and a fatal car chase.
In 2006 Derek Chauvin, 44, was one of six officers connected to the death of Wayne Reyes. Reyes, 42 was killed by officers after allegedly pulling a shotgun on the six cops, which included Chauvin.
Two years later Chauvin was investigated for his role in the 2008 shooting of Ira Latrell Toles during a domestic assault call.
Toles was wounded after police said he went for an officer's gun and Chauvin shot him.
And in 2011 23-year-old Leroy Martinez was shot and injured during a chase given by officers including Chauvin.
Tou Thao
Tou Thao, was part of a $25,000 out of court settlement after being sued for using excessive force in 2017.
A lawsuit obtained by the DailyMail.com shows Thao was sued for using excessive force in arrest where he was accused of punching and kicking a handcuffed suspect 'until his teeth broke'.
The remaining two officers have been identified as Thomas Lane and J Alexander Kueng. Both were reportedly rookie cops who were still in their probationary periods, according to the StarTribune.
Dey Democraps will keep dem Minnersoter Progressives safe...
They are the Bad News Bears.
They should burn it all to the ground, that will make a big difference...../s
My mom would take the trolley to Lake Street for her violin lessons. At the age of 7. Alone. Of course that was in 1924. We went down there on a “Nana tour” with the grandkids about 10 years ago.
Got a White Castle on Lake Street.
“Well, it’s changed a lot - but this is the same store!”
It’s disturbing to see but I have seen countless videos of this. Some are what they appear to be and others not. I am pretty positive what I see and it’s gruesome but we have a system to deal with this.
