Four Minneapolis police officers were fired Tuesday after the detention and death of 47-year-old George Floyd a scene that unfolded in a Facebook video showing a white officer kneeling on Floyds neck as he pleaded with police, I cant breathe.
Floyd died at Hennepin County Medical Center soon after the incident, which started when police detained him Monday evening on suspicion of trying to pass a fake $20 bill at a convenience store.
The FBI launched an investigation Tuesday, as the Minneapolis Police Department fired the officer as well as three others who were at the scene.
Anger over the death became more visible Tuesday night as protesters marched from where police held the man down at 38th Street and S. Chicago Avenue, heading to the department's 3rd Precinct headquarters. Later, police in riot gear and protesters clashed.
Being black in America should not be a death sentence, a visibly shaken Mayor Jacob Frey said. For five minutes, we watched a white officer press his knee into a black mans neck. Five minutes. When you hear someone calling for help, youre supposed to help. This officer failed in the most basic, human sense.

Well, that is convenient.
He sure looked and acted dead (limp dead weight) when loaded up for the ambulance (and minutes before that from the video).
The hospital is at fault, COVID probably.
I would expect at least the one police officer to be arrested and charged within the next few days.
What’s up with the chiron? It be wackytalk.
Thank you.
I may be wrong, but I feel there is a Pink Elephant in the room. The Unions that protect bad cops just like a bad teacher can not be fired. As long the unions continue protecting bad cops we will continue seeing these incidents.
Not the town of Mary Richards anymore.
Well, his death did involve respiratory distress, a classic covid symptom...
The first few minutes were standard police brutality, showing the guy who's boss and ensuring compliance. At the same time, they were antagonizing and taunting him to "get up and get in the car" while keeping him pinned. It seemed like a game to them. For about the last few minutes, the cop was pressing his knee into the neck of an unconscious, motionless, dying man. Dude was cuffed and effectively dead and the cop was still pressing his knee into his neck. And none of the other 3 cops did a thing to stop it.
Ive always said, if youre talkin, youre breathin.
Thanks, mumblypeg. :)
This will now displace the ARBURY CASE

Worth repeating. Especially in light of the total jerks cracking jokes on this thread about looting workboots and TV sets. Some days Free Republic is the rotten cesspool its detractors say it is.
As details emerge, this is showing all the earmarks of an excited delirium death.
Highly unlikely it was suffocation. My money’s on after effects of excited delirium.
Locals requested them.
Sure. Whatever you say. The cop was telling him to get up and get in the car all the while kneeling on his neck. And the guy saying he was having a hard time breathing.
I want to know...who calls the police over a suspected counterfeit $20?
Counterfeit or forgery
FBI is likely upset too as there may be a ring there and now the cops ruined their sting
