Judge Sullivan does the equivalent of pasting 'I’m guilty' on his forehead
American Thinker ^ | May 24, 2020 | Andrea Widburg

From the beginning of the Michael Flynn case, Judge Sullivan has been hostile to Flynn. By December 2018, based upon a misreading of the facts, Sullivan accused Flynn of conduct amounting to treason and said that he felt “disdain” and “disgust” for what he believed Flynn had done.

Sullivan’s behavior, however, went from hostile to bizarre when the Department of Justice, having uncovered massive wrongdoing the FBI’s and DOJ’s handling of the Flynn matter, moved to dismiss the case. On Saturday, though, Judge Sullivan managed to escalate from bizarre to . . . well, maybe paranoid is the correct word.

A Motion to Dismiss a criminal case is a routine procedure when the government realizes, for whatever reason, that there is no further reason to prosecute a defendant. Because the Constitution gives the prosecutor sole discretion about whether to bring a case and then, having brought it, whether to miss it, the judge has a limited role – and that role is to protect the defendant.

Thus, it is the judge’s responsibility to make sure that the government isn’t toying with the defendant by dismissing a losing case while intending to refile in the hopes of drawing a more amenable judge or jury. Absent that problem, the judge’s only job is to rubber-stamp the dismissal.

Judge Sullivan refused to use that rubber stamp. He also declined to act as Flynn’s last defense against an overreaching prosecution.

He didn’t hire a criminal lawyer. Thus lawyer is to advance his crazy bias on the case.

I did think about it and there are harsher and more fitting words for what he really is.

It sort of makes you if the judge was under orders to destroy Flynn. Then when the DOJ stopped the persecution, he accidentally overplayed his hand in his roll to help crucify Flynn. Sounds like he knows he stepped in it and is looking to save his own skin.

I think it’s a combination of
1. Dementia and
2. An overarching desire to protect Obama.

I was thinking he was following orders too. He will claim he was just doing what Dear Leader told to do “by the book”.

“This clown is a judge.”

Initially appointed a judge by Ronald Reagan to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia in 1984. Then appointed an associate judge of the District of Columbia Court of appeals in 1992 by George H.W. Bush. In 1994 Bill Clinton appointed him to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, his current position.

If he is a clown and a judge, two Republican presidents are responsible for him being on the bench.

The end game is to keep this going and not let it end anytime soon. Hiring a lawyer just makes a bigger mess of it...which is what THEY want. Is there no oversight/control over this judge or does the whole country have to be held hostage indefinitely??

This has Obamas stink all over it IMO

He didn’t hire a criminal lawyer. This lawyer is to advance his crazy bias on the case.

He has solicited another (retired) judge to act as prosecutor under the guise of amicus curiae, and now a lawyer to take his place as judge, at least insofar as filing a response to the DC Circuit.

If, on Tuesday morning, the DC Circuit does not grant Flynn's motion at least in part and replace him as the judge handling this case, then something that even WE have not suspected is being hidden here.

There is no conceivable EXCUSE for what he has done, and very few IMAGINABLE reasons - and all of THEM are bad.

Because he did these things after the conference call from "Obama" to his supporters, it's not crazy to think that "Obama" is finally unmasked as giving the orders for the whole resistance conspiracy, that Sullivan is part of it, and that now the coup teeters on a knife edge of success or disaster.

In fact, it is now very difficult to see a way forward to complete resolution and restoration of a functioning Executive Branch without breaking the leaders of the coup, which since they either control or have substantial influence over the Legislative and Judicial Branches could involve extra-Constitutional measures or Trump's final defeat.

Best case reading: maybe he was corrupted after he was appointed...

"the judge has a limited role – and that role is to protect the defendant."

You mean the defendant is innocent until proven guilty?

But surely the journalists of the news media would expose any wrongdoing, wouldn't they??? I mean, aren't they committed to truth, justice, and the rule of US law (as oppose to the law of the jungle)???

The appellate should just issue the order citing no need to clog the docket with needless argument and the recent SC rulling.

Swamp creatures operate best in the dark. In fact the light is toxic to them. Sullivan has too much light shining on him.

Keep acting the way they have been for the past 12 years ( 8 half breed years + 2016 to present) and the law of the jungle WILL prevail.

This is the type of DC attorney that probably costs $750 - $1000 per hour. Who is paying for this?
