OSHA cites nursing home for delayed coronavirus reporting

The citation, dated May 18, states that Winder Nursing Inc., which operates a nursing home in Winder, Georgia, failed to report to OSHA within 24 hours the work-related hospitalizations of six employees. OSHA said the workers were hospitalized around April 19, but the agency wasn’t notified until May 5

Ouch.

You gotta wonder at mutations in specific proteins used/attacked by this virus in those cases.

One of those ‘if not for the virus, live to be 85yrs old’ things.

US “terminating” relationship with the World Health Organization & “redirecting those funds to other worldwide & deserving urgent health needs” - May 29, 2020
Today, 03:40 PM

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Friday that the United States would be “terminating” its relationship with the World Health Organization over its response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization and redirecting those funds to other worldwide and deserving urgent public health needs,” Trump said. “The world needs answers from China on the virus. We must have transparency.”

Eric M. Strauss ✔ @ericMstrauss JUST IN: @ABC looked at 21 states that eased restrictions May 4 or earlier & found no major increase in hospitalizations, deaths or % of people testing positive in any of them. [SC, MT, GA, MS, SD, AR, CO, ID, IA, ND, OK, TN, TX, UT, WY, KS, FL, IN, MO, NE, OH]

We never ‘locked down’.

We just closed small businesses and sent all the money to walmart and kroger instead.

But ‘slowdown’ actually started a couple of weeks BEFORE the official lockdown. ‘lockdown’ just codified it. Restaurants and all had much less business even before they ‘closed’. (most went to takeout service at that point).

Our family never prepared for a ‘lockdown’ situation. We just stocked up so we could avoid being around all the germy people. And to second guess any effects the supply chain issues from china might bring. Almost wish we’d bought another small chest freezer but that’s hindsight at this point for sure. Just hope they can get some more in before hunting season this year. I’m hoping the neighbors terminate some of the garden pests along with what hubby usually kills.

And my hubby is in a high risk group. Not necessarily for death, but his risk profile is exactly the same as the little lawyer that started the whole NYC crap show. That dude ‘survived’ but spent 5 or 6 weeks in the hospital 2 or 3 of which were in ICU. Last I checked he wasn’t back at work yet, 4 months later.

We can’t afford that. We’d never be able to retire. And hubby might not be able to go back to work doing what he does now if he had any strokes or other neurological issues.

Any anti maskers that ‘flick boogers’ at my hubby (as some have threatened to do) will be ventilated.

I don’t know about other states, but I do know it’s difficult to say what is happening in GA today as they backlog all their cases to the date of symptom onset. So today we get an idea of what cases were a week or two ago? Here is today’s chart:

The 14 day window ends May 15, which is a little over two weeks after we reopened.

Horse hockey. TX has had several highest deaths and daily cases since the opening. Austin’s daily charts are going up, not down. Nearly 50% of my county’s cases happened after the opening on May 1. 18% were teens and 20s. ABC is dead wrong.

I live in one of those states.

It’s interesting the parameters used.

We had our highest diagnosed positive number today.

Interesting they didn’t use that metric.

...and then there’s the states mixing PCR and antibody tests together to reduce the % positives...

Scott Gottlieb, MD @ScottGottliebMD

The State of Texas doesn’t report daily state-level Covid19 hospitalizations, but Texas Medical Center reports data across its hospital system. These data are from the Texas Medical Center System, and they show a continued increase in new Covid hospitalizations over recent weeks.

My state (NC) went to Phase 1 on May 8 and Phase 2 on May 22. We've had our biggest "daily cases" and hospitalization numbers since then.

I did balk at masks at first, because we were told to use rags and t-shirts (ala surgeon general’s little demo). And I wasn’t about to give CCP that win. But I’ll wear a surgical mask, mask in public 100%. And anyone getting in my face thinking they are going to mask-shame me, is going to get a sudden COPD coughing fit in response in between more than a few colorful words I can’t say on Sundays.

And you can bet Xinhau is behind this. China is still uncontrolled, the product they produced for foreigners returned as crap, they will be raping the earth of PPE again. So if less Americans want to buy masks, easier for them to clean the shelves again. (and, on a side note, instigating rioting means more covid patients, means swamped hospitals again, and more PPE shortages, another win for them)

DH brought home a large pk of paper towels. Asked me, didn’t I bring one home last week? I couldn’t remember so I got one. I laughed and said, you did, but it never hurts to have an extra or two. We’re using this time to just little by little make sure we maintain our six months’ supply. Our Costco didn’t have meat last week but were well stocked this week, so he picked up a few chuck roasts to process and freeze. With these riots, I’m not sure now if we’ll have a second wave or an ongoing wave that wipes out our hard-earned progress.

The rioters look young, not really expecting any hospitalizations from the woowoo for them.

If we can convince them to continue rioting with EACH OTHER, they won’t spread it anywhere else either :)

If only we could contribute a cpl tons of weed...we might never see them again.

Eventually the rioters will calm down and in a couple of weeks remember to visit grandma.... :-(

The local Walmart was really well stocked this week in everything—glad to see it.

Here in N CT everyone wears masks in Walmart and it is nice and quiet in the mornings.

It looks like folks are being very calm and cautious, and I think that will continue for as long as needed, regardless of what businesses open and when they open—so I would be surprised if we have a Wave 2 here.

Let’s hope not!

Maybe they’ll go to the beach instead! :)

Or the water park in Missouri.
