UPDATE: In a second COVID-19 test administered today in Columbus, Governor Mike DeWine has tested negative for COVID-19. First Lady Fran DeWine and staff members have also all tested negative. “
I wonder what test the President uses?
And what one Dewine uses.
North Carolina reports first death tied to child care COVID-19 cluster

Grace Filled Beginnings first appeared on the Department of Health and Human Services cluster list last week, and at the latest check, the facility has eight staff members and two children with confirmed infections.

NHS must not stop normal care when a second wave of Covid-19 hits - or tens of thousands of patients may die, leading medics warn
In early March the NHS told hospitals to scrap as many operations as possible and turf out patients on their wards to make way for an influx of Covid-19 patients.
The move was successful and hospitals were not overwhelmed by the effects of the virus. But cancer charities fear tens of thousands more patients will die in the next year because they had their tumours diagnosed too late or missed completely

This is a great idea if you’re back to work in an office or building that doesn’t have any really good UV treatment system.

BREAKING: The French Government says it has recorded 2,288 new confirmed #COVID19 cases in the past 24 hours.
It is a significant jump from the 1,604 cases recorded on Thursday.
If your oldest has the ability to handle it, I’d encourage him to go to med school and then specialize in pulmonary or cardiology.
Neither JH or any other reliable data source reported "over 2,000 deaths" yesterday. They reported between 1,203 and 1,250. It's possible these 750+ mystery deaths are OLD deaths that were missed some time ago, but this is not a spike in NEW deaths as implied by the sensational headline.
3 of the past 4 days have shown a week over week decline in deaths. We appear to have peaked, and if the next couple days continue this week over week decline, we might be seeing the beginning of the end of this wave.
I sure hope so!

Good thread.
And why it seems that the infection ‘stops’ around 20%. Basically that’s the low hanging fruit that can’t avoid being infected or doesn’t change their behavior and gets infected. As long as the other portion of the population plays hard to get...the infection will run out of hosts.
Mind you, I don’t buy the argument that 20% is the top end of herd immunity for this virus because ‘waves hands’ T-cell/humoral/etc resposes.
Otherwise...what explains this whole neighborhood’s lack of those ‘waves hands’ other responses?
https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/10/health/queens-antibody-testing-coronavirus/index.html
“The data, first reported by The New York Times Thursday, shows that more than 68% of people tested positive for antibodies at a clinic in Corona, Queens, while only 56% tested positive at another clinic in Jackson Heights, Queens. CityMD, which operates dozens of walk-in clinics in New York, “
Because for those ‘waves hands’ other responses to work, you’d have to convince me that entire neighborhoods lacked them for some reason. Else those neighborhoods wouldn’t have ever achieved 60%+ antibody positivity.
Don’t we all. Looks like today was also down from last Friday, though slightly higher than yesterday. The downward movement from last week is significant, but I hate to call it a trend as it seems every time I do, the “trend” reverses. Unfortunately, the numbers don’t go down as fast as they go up.

I think what keeps me vigilant is what is happening in South America given they are in the middle of winter now and what that could foretell for the US.
The death rates are concerning but it is the life-altering long term affects that plague so many people. I know all viruses have the ability to do that, but it seems cv hits a greater number with after effects. And there seems to be no rhyme or reason yet as to who will will recover completely and who wont. I hope scientists in the US are working to understand why this is.
