The founder of Barstool Sports is raising questions about the efficacy of the White House's top infectious disease doctor in charge of responding to the coronavirus.
Dave Portnoy told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Friday that he is unsure whether Dr. Anthony Fauci knows what he is doing after hearing Fauci make contrasting statements about the disease and how people can fight against it.
"I don't mean to pile on Fauci, but we're making very important decisions based on what he's saying, and I think it's OK to say, 'I really don't know guys,'" Portnoy said. "But I get the feeling that if you ask him this question or what's one plus one equal, you're going to get seven different answers. It's OK to say you don't know."
"It's a moving target. It's a disease we've never met with before, but that's why I think, at this point, you've got to let people, individuals make decisions for themselves," Portnoy said. "The only thing, as I said before, that we absolutely know for certain is that if you continue the quarantine, you continue the lockdown, tons of people are going to lose their livelihoods."
"Those people should have the choice to make the decision rather than depend on things that — listen, Fauci may be the nicest guy in the world, but he said, 'wear mask, don't wear mask,'" continued Portnoy. "He said, you know, 'The lockdown is going to go on indefinitely. We've got to end the lockdown.' So, it's just tough to really put that much stake in what he's saying when I don't think he knows."
Portnoy said Fauci should be more accountable on areas where he might have been wrong about the coronavirus and that the "American people" like politicians with "strong opinions" who are willing to admit their mistakes. The sports commentator added that he doesn't completely trust what Fauci says on a daily basis.
"There's videos of Fauci all through this. He's on different sides depending on the day, depending on the mood, like I said, the way the wind blows, you know, we're making seemingly life-changing decisions for other people based on facts that clearly are not facts," said Portnoy.
Portnoy was complimentary of Fauci at several points during the interview, suggesting he understood why Fauci discussed the coronavirus with Hollywood celebrities, including Julia Roberts, because "he has a believable face."

Saw that rant on Tucker; it was great. And true.
Not sure why Fauci changed his tune — yet again. He has been consistently inconsistent in everything he’s said since January (at least). It’s fine if he’s schizo and a nobody, but when he has the power to destroy the best country ever on earth — that’s a problem. There should be consequences. I don’t know what, or how, but what he did was wrong.

The UV kills the virus. Sunscreen is perfectly fine. The virus does not survive in the droplets in the UB snd high humidity. Not sure I would tell people to get skin cancer and melanoma.
Every politician or political person eventually provides every possible answer to any particular question, and gives a different answer depending on the audience he or she is talking too.
The real problem is not the politician but the people in the audience. Once they hear what they “want” to hear, they ignore that something different came out of the same politician’s voice not 2 minutes earlier. This confirmation bias makes the listeners the real enemy of freedom more so than the politicians. This is why I am against democracy (or more importantly I am against anything close to democracy such as a republic).
There are simply too many dumb, manipulable, “confirmation bias” driven people on this planet to make anything that resembles “democracy” (not necessarily a government based on the consent of the people, which I consider different) to be successful. The tyranny of the majority or even worse, the tyranny of the angry and motivated plurality inevitably rules the day and is no better than the tyranny of an oligarchy.
Do I have a better answer? Well, repealing the 16th and 17th amendment to the U.S. Constitution would be a good start as we should get back to a better balance between the states and the federal government. The “grand compromise” that our founding fathers created was one of conflict and forces great compromises before any level of government could do anything.
Of course, repealing anything, let alone a Constitutional amendment, will never happen and thus we march to the tune of the angry, motivated plurality each and every election cycle.

Presidential Intelligence briefings. More than one president has noticed that most assesments, longterm, short term, boiled down to “I don’t know, could be anything”. Fauci is a competent cover all the bases and my ass gov’t drone.
He’s an 81 year old man who, has been a civil servant (i. e., bureaucrat) for 52 years. He may have a medical license but to my knowledge he has never practiced. Even in his earlier decisions relating to other disease outbreaks, he has been consistently wrong and I don’t think he was ever taken seriously. And he was definitely a partisan Democrat in his spare time.
Why in the world this man - except for his position - was chosen to be the “leader” on this I will never know.
