President Donald Trump spoke briefly at the White House Friday and called for state governors to allow for churches and other places of worship to reopen to the public.
Trump says he considers houses of worship essential and wants them to reopen this weekend.

The Federal Constitution overrides any Governor’s decision to restrict the free exercise of Religion.
POTUS Trump just reminded them of it.
The emergency declarations are done under a framework of laws that allow for extraordinary executive powers at the state level, but also at the fed level. If a state gainsays an essential classification from above, the fed has the right to intervene - even if only by negating the fed acceptance of the state emergency declaration (and thereby removing money).
I have not read the law, but this is how it appears to be working, otherwise the feds would not have their own essentials list. If anyone actually understands the legal construction, please correct me if I am wrong.
In my state the liquor stores are going full tilt but the churches and synagogues are all shut down (don't know about the mosques).
And we have our RINO Governor,Charlie Baker (who never misses an opportunity to express his contempt for the President) to thank for all that.
They should have NEVER been shut down in the first place. A clear violation of the Constitutional right to worship your faith!! Clear violation. No question about it. But, that has been the left’s aim from the beginning. The commie manifesto clearly tells them to destroy Christianity and do it first.
He’s trying to force religion on us all!/s
I would say the president has an obligation to defend the Constitution.
Someone needs to deal with Chicago as they have gone totally Caligula.
Great! Tell Nessel and Whitmer. They missed the memo.
FREEDOM is essential.
The Leftist governors and their administrations think the President is a nobody they can tell what to do because Hillary should have won. I cannot believe the disrespect from Michigan’s AG. She and Whitmer think they are Queen1 and Queen2.
(Have I complained about them enough?)
It is fear of being arrested, not necessarily the virus.
In Arizona, there has been no state order to wear masks. It has been optional the whole time. Nobody will be arrested.
I have been with the public everyday as my work is “essential”, and people here wearing masks are extremely afraid of covid19. They are terrified and near hysterical.
:) I’ve had my own rants too...
I think Queen1 and Queen2 are about to slam back down to earth...possibly tomorrow if churches open.
I do understand being afraid of the virus, well I did anyway. The descriptions of it from medical professionals were horrifying. They had us all qyaking in our houses in April. Now I think the contagion has simmered down due to warmer weather and distancing.
People in Michigan are so tired of the witch crying “wolf” and sending sick people to nursing homes that we are willing to risk becoming ill. Her orders will make the rebellion, and possible relapse, worse.
I want the answer to that, too. I hear/read threats from the admin, but no action.
Has anyone heard? Our small business people are on the brink of disaster.
Not really. Chicago is awful on the church issue.
“In Arizona, there has been no state order to wear masks.”
Ditto for TN. Individual establishments can require them, but it’s not a rule for everyone. In our church we have three elderly people, one with compromised lungs due to the job he had. They wear masks, but nobody else does.
Amen!
Good to see you and that new computer.
I would like to see the college transcripts of these Soviet style governors and mayors. I want to know what their grades were in math and the physical sciences. If I recall correctly Al Gore, Mr Global warming, got a terrible grade in the science class I took in college.
Churches, etc. are more essential than pot dispensaries or abortion centers.
