During that remap, Illinois lost seats in Congress, and Congressman Marty Russo (who had taken a seat from a one term Republican Congressman, Robert Hanrahan) was the odd man out. Bill Lipinski took over most of his precincts in the new 3rd District.

Historically, there had been a Republican presence in both the 13th and 23rd Wards, but Lipinski and Madigan helped to erase the GOP over time. Both Bill and Dan Lipinski played for Republican cross over votes by being pro-life.

BECAUSE OF THE CRAP THE DEMOCRATS ( IN NAME ONLY) HAVE BEEN PULLING OFF THERE’S A GOOD CHANCE OF SWINGING 12 THE 13TH AND 23 WARDS

I predicted the Lipinski loss before all the votes came in: mosesdapoet to PBRCat 3/17 12:12:26 AM Democrats weren’t happy with his votes on abortion and on being the only democrat to vote NO on allowing men to to call themselves a women and compete with women in college sports.
Those who live in Chicago may have already voted at their local public library. In the 3rd Congressional district looks like Daniel Lipinski will lose because of redistricting. Which had previously included adjacent Chicago city wards to his 23rd in a district that dealt exclusively with city issues such as a subway L service and the Stevenson Expressway Wards which were reliable Dan’s father William O Lipinski supporters but since nost had areas with hispanic last names those areas were redistrcted and assigned to Gutieriez’s district.
