Woods is a solid guy. I think he forgets Reagan, who loved
this nation very much. His comments here are supportive of
our cause, and I appreciate his openness about his beliefs.

I disagree. President Trump is not vain or insensitive.
One need only listen to Obama’s speeches....remember how we would count the number of time he said “I, I, me, me!” Compare Trump’s speeches to Obama’s. Trump will correct himself and say “we.” BO never did that.
I saw pictures of him speaking with adults who lost everything due to a hurricane or tornado and he just hugged the man.
Woods must have said that as a give to leftist turds and never-Trumpers. Woods is wrong.
I think Reagan might have loved the country more, or at least in a different way. He did serve in wwii, in his early days did a lot stumping for conservative causes, governed california as it was in a tumultuous time. Less of trying to acquire as much stuff as he possibly could, more public service oriented.
Hard to compare them equivalently. Both know the country made them into the men they were/are, and that no other place on earth gives people a better chance at being who they could be.
There are different reasons why various people consistently react too quickly and too energetically to criticism. One reason is vanity, which I don't believe applies to Trump. The other is being thin-skinned, which I feel does apply to him.
In this respect, I can identify with PDJT, in being thin-skinned. I always react to criticism quickly and strongly and I don't pause first to reflect whether there might be at least SOME amount of truth in the criticism. It causes me problems in my closest relationships.
OTOH, I don't believe I am vain at all. In fact, I have very low self-esteem, though I am not "humble" in the slightest. (Note: do *NOT* confuse low self-esteem with humility). And for the record, one doesn't have to be either vain or humble ... there is plenty of room in between these extremes.
Funny thing that. They were both democrats at one time.
The Donald is Donald. He loves a good fight. Ronald Reagan loved to hit em all with his one liners. AND he was really good at that. That and Ronald Reagan was thee great communicator.
They both talked/talk to/for the people and not at them. Both were/are great cheerleaders for the American people. Praise will result in massive success.
Ridicule will result in great animosity.

Two different men, two different times — each determined to preserve a common goal.
They both took a lot of guff from the press, and Reagan had
to face down the Soviet Union. In his day, I think Reagan
did as best he could.
He had people working against him too. He was hated by the
same folks who hate Trump. Back then I don’t think he could
have gotten away with what Trump does. It was a different
time.
He was called senile, and was given a very tough time for
playing hardball with Gorbachev. If you think back, him
being blamed for AIDS, and other things, it’s pretty
interesting the similarities.
I will say that Trump is a master at uncovering deep mole
insiders. The way he raises them to the surface is just
amazing.
I don’t think Reagan could have gotten support for a wall
in his day. I think they both love the nation and are
remarkable men, great presidents.
I don’t think Woods would disagree either. He was focusing
on Trump and I don’t fault him.

James and I are the same age, so we have both lived through the same Presidents: Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, BushI, Clinton, Bush2, Obama, and Trump.
To figure out which, if any of these criminals and psychopaths love(d) their country is laughable - I feel like the victim of severe long-term domestic abuse, suffering extreme Stockholm Syndrome where with each slap in the face and punch in the gut and kick in the groin, I know its all my fault and need to say something nice about one or any of these serial Abusers, with the nicer smile, smoother talk, and the promise of Never Again, just stay with me, Baby.

True. I’d be interested in what Trump has “gotten away with” that Reagan would not have. There is a definite cultural shift in our moral code, but the demonkraps via the Clintons made that happen. Hence Reagan’s divorce was an issue for some that a POTUS 20 years before would not have gotten elected. Trump’s multi-marriages and playing around were really a non-issue except for rabies infected, hypocritical demonkraps who defended Clinton’s sexual practices, alleged crimes, and lying under oath.
If anything, Trump has had the lukewarm support of the GOP, and this is not surprising in that he did not come up through the ranks. He has had the Congress and the judiciary working against him; he has had Supreme Court justices and other federal judges speak out against him, putting in question their ability to hear any case involving his office. Worst of all, he was spied on as a candidate, and as the Russian hoax continues to be revealed, he had crimes committed against him and others who worked for him, working against him, had a totally baseless, built on lies, impeachment brought against him. People in his own executive branch are continuing to work against him. The victim is the criminal, the criminals are the victims. Yet Trump has not gone down. This has exposed the great corruption in our hallowed institutions - government, press, education, and even industry. Reagan had a lot of hatred hurled against him; but never had this level of hatred, and 24/7 working against him. Reagan had none of this. So what has Trump gotten away with, I don’t see it.
