Barr’s Remarks on Obama and Biden Make an Important Point
National Review ^ | 5/18/2020 | ANDREW C. MCCARTHY

Posted on 05/18/2020 6:59:39 PM PDT by bitt

Attorney General Barr is right in his commitment to purge the Justice Department and the FBI of their recent political proclivities. Attorney General Barr’s remarks on Monday, signaling that the Justice Department anticipates no criminal charges against former President Obama and former Vice President Biden, should come as a surprise to no one (certainly, ahem, to no one who read Ball of Collusion).

As I noted here, less than a month ago, the AG observed during a wide-ranging interview with Hugh Hewitt that the subjects of the Durham investigation are not candidates for public office; thus, they were not affected by a Justice Department guideline against bringing charges close to Election Day. By then, Biden was already the putative Democratic presidential nominee. Obviously, if serious consideration were being given to an indictment of Biden, Barr would not have made the point about the guideline.

To be sure, the media reporting will portray Barr’s latest comments as indicative of a rift between the AG and President Trump, whose latest “Obamagate” rhetoric frames Obama-era investigative abuses as “crime.” Barr’s remarks will also be applauded as an “exoneration” of Obama officials — consistent with the media approach that portrays Democrats as innocent victims of right-wing smears if they manage to evade indictment, while a “guilty until proved innocent beyond any doubt” standard is applied to Republicans. Barr’s comments will feature in the “nothing to see here” storyline, the press’s counter to stunning revelations about the baselessness of the Russia collusion narrative willfully peddled by Democrats, and the exploitation of counterintelligence powers — powers that are supposed to protect us from jihadists and hostile regimes — for partisan political purposes.

I know McCarthy is a capable attorney and legal analyst but I don’t his ‘important’ point.

(Hi bitt!)

“he did not expect an investigation into the origins of the FBI’s Russia investigation to lead to criminal probes of either President Donald Trump’s Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, or former President Barack Obama.”

Humm. As stated it does not rule out prosecutions based on completed investigations, and that he just did not EXPECT an investigation. Stolid and reassuring fodder for the targets and the masses. (I note that Hunter was not mentioned, and nothing about Barry Sotero/Obama?)

Biden has a on Video admitting to a Feliony.

Burr, Lindsey Graham, and Johnson shield him in the Senate, protecting their Bud. Lindsey Graham then meets with Barr on the matter, per Graham.

I always thought the Graham told him what he said on some shows, an Investigation of Biden would tear apart the Country, said Lindsey G.

Dems don’t get indicted, identified, and they get the questions ahead of time, like Hillary.

It gets worse, actually. According to a court filing “white hat” Priestap wasn’t even interviewed about his infamous “get Flynn” memo until a couple weeks ago. Naturally, he has no recollection of those events.

The only important point here is we are being gaslit by the Barr DOJ. They are doing no more than Sleepy Sessions to stop the coup.

Bidet is a moron and should become McGovern Part Deux. Indicting Hunter too soon could cause the Rats to choose some dark horse without baggage.

Why didn’t Barr just shut up? Nothing will ever be done about any of these criminals now. Republicans will be sitting ducks from now on. We have no justice system anymore. Barr will do nothing about the fraudulent voting either. Just another political do nothing.

“Police must have the right to be wrong in good faith. If they don’t, then law-enforcement is paralyzed...”

Yes, but when the police bend over backwards daily to frame someone, and blatantly frame someone, then ruling out good faith is just the beginning.

All in all, this article promotes a very stupid attempt to sweep everything under the rug. Completely disappointed in this usually sane writer.

“Yet, as everyone who has ever gotten a parking ticket knows, not everything illegal is criminal.”

The destruction of many peoples’ lives, the attempt at a coup, and this man cites parking tickets? Contemptible, just plain contemptible.

FTA: (last 2 sentences) What worries me is not that this means wayward officials will not be held accountable. It is that Barr cannot prevent a potential Biden administration from putting such officials right back in business.

If Biden wins, they thugs will be back in business, but this time they will be more careful about hiding their tracks.

Saying now, pre-election, that he doesn’t expect an investigation specifically of Biden or Obama doesn’t mean his expectations won’t change later. If he had phrased it differently it would allow the Dems the opportunity to invigorate a listless base going into the election. And taken in conjunction with Sen Graham’s stance that Biden/Obama will not be called to testify it appears that, once again, Trump is on his own. Fortunately, he is quite capable of using the bully pulpit to call attention to the attempted coup. And with any luck Durham will bring indictments that may expose the conspirators leaving Barr no choice but to investigate Obama/Biden.

I agree that Barr should just shut up and not discuss any ongoing investigations. Why doesn’t he ever sit down on Fox news for an hour?

The GOP has to shield Obama, just like they shielded him throughout his eight year crime spree.

The ENTIRETY of the Kenyanesian Usurpation was unconstitutional and the crimes were myriad.

Both parties put a foreign usurper in office who proceeded to turn every agency of the government against the citizens, ran guns to Mexican drug cartels, overthrew the government of Libya and used it as a staging for weapons shipments to jihadists to try to overthrow the government of Syria, overthrew the governments in Egypt and Tunisia, gave billions of dollars to Iran, and too many other crimes to mention.
Then they topped it off with using every asset of the US government to fix the election for Hillary and when that failed because she is so unlikeable they impeached President Trump for asking about the crimes Joe Biden committed.

Bill Mitchell on this announcement:

Remember, Barr didn't say Obama and Biden are innocent. He said, "based upon what he knows now, neither would be indicted."

In other words, he defused a potential Obama martyrdom for Democrats while actually committing to nothing.

The fifty or so prosecutions of those under Bidet and Obama should result in defense witnesses implicating the Oval offices. That or fifty or so hacks falling on their swords for their boy king.
